If you have actual Influenza and you've had it less than a couple of days, you can go to your doctor and get anti-virals to combat it. Otherwise, lots of fluids, stay in bed, take tylenol or advil for fever/pain.

Probably not...not sure, though.

But Rabid's advice is great. I would totally stress the bed rest thing, too. Works wonders.

of course once you have it, it has to take its course, your immune system is at battle. YOU, have to rest. My prefered before and after is garlic, cabbage, red pepper broth . Before the total onset , a stew. During the time of no solids when you are at your lowest ,a broth. The upside, the flu does help you loose wieght. It also slows you down to a point where you can reach a yen state that you may not have the ability to reach otherwise. I go for years without even getting a cold....then a flu hits me, about every eight years or so, and I like wanna die...good luck and stay off the anti biotics.

Fast forward to next week.

I hope you feel better soon :) Vitamin C, a little sun, and lots of water always help me feel better. And naps, lots of naps with good movies and comfy socks.

The last time i ever got sick was the flu almost 2 years ago. It was the first time i had ever really had the flu and OMG it totally kicked my ass. I couldnt believe it. Throughout the course of ONE day i had a scratchy throat, chills, lost my voice and felt like i had been hit by a truck. By the time i got home from work i had a 102 fever. It went as high as 102.8 and i said i wasnt going to take anything unless it spiked to 103- which it never did. I had a fever for about 4 days straight. stayed in bed- didnt feel like eating much. Just drank alot of water and some orange juice. took alot of vitamin C besides that. The only thing you can do is take like 5 days off work and take the time to get better. It is also very normal to not feel like yourself for 4-6 months afterward. Which i thought- noway- but its true. You might not be back at your regular energy level for awhile so just eat right and take care of yourself. LOTS OF WATER!

*Most* Advil doesn't come in a gelcap. But medicines in general are all tested on animals, so you could argue that no medicines are vegetarian.
