Are you exploring the entire state of California?
San Francisco has some of the best veg*n restaurants on the West Coast. Cafe Gratitude, Millennium, Herbivore, Cha Ya Vegetarian Japanese...
Los Angeles has Native Foods, Real Food Daily, California Vegan, Rahel Ethiopian Vegetarian...

If you are in Southern Cali, a section called the South Bay... Redondo Beach, Hermosa Beach, Manhattan Beach, and Venice Beach there are tons and tons. My favorites are The World Famous Spot in Hermosa Beach, The Green Temple in Redondo Beach, The Veggie Grille in El Segundo (its a new chain and its known for wonderful fake meat) I have to brain storm for a minute but a good source is the website YELP. You can put in a location and a type of food and you also get reviews.
Happy Eating
In the San Fernando Valley, Woodland Hills, specifically, there is a great place called Follow Your Heart (http://www.followyourheart.com/). They even have a market and they are known for their "Vegenaise".
I've known about FYH for years. I'd love to have a meetup there.
See the recurring "meetup" theme in my posts? :p

if for any reason you are in the the Inland Empire, Baker's drive thru is awesome!
Baker's is a fast food chain only in the Inland Empire, two locations (loma linda and riverside on adams) that have special veggie menus, however all of the locations serve animal free beans and rice that are so good, and im pretty sure they don't fry any animals in the same oil as the french fries/hash browns. i always get a bean burrito no cheese add lettuce and tomato, and 1/2 lb of fries and maybe a tostada no/cheese if i am super hungry.

not much has changed at Baker's over the past 20 years or so, many people don't realize that the beans don't have animal and there are only 2 locations w/ an actual veggie menu (use tvp for tacos, burritos etc)

Oh yeah I forgot Little Csears!!
They have great vegan pizzas!
The dough and pizza sauce are specifically vegan. and all you have to do is ask for the veggie vegan pizza with no cheese.. also prefferably no mushrooms. and also the breadsticks are vegan. you just ask for the crazy bread with no cheese and crazy sauce. Its a great cheap pizza place for everyone to enjoy.
Not very easy finding vegan options at a pizza place so this ones great!
