Since reading a bunch about how some breweries use fish-parts as clarifiers (in a post that concentrated on European brews), I've started emailing the breweries I like so I can find out who's safe and who's not.
Recently I emailed Flying Dog brewery (http://www.flyingdogales.com/default.asp) in Colorado with this:
Subject: I have a question for the brewmaster
Comments: I love Flying Dog (especially the Horn Dog), but I'm a vegetarian.I recently learned that some breweries use something derived from fish scales as a clarifier. Do you guys do anything to your beer that would make them unfriendly to those of us who don't want to drink fish or other animals (except for Flying Dogs)? Thanks.
And this is the reply I got:
Jason, all of our beers are vegan. Thanks for your question.
Cheers,Matt

Now, there's a chance he's flat lying to me, but I doubt it.
