I received this in a newsletter subscription and thought I'd post it here for anyone in Melbourne who is interested:
From: Roy E. Taylor
Vegan Outreach in Melbourne
I am proposing to set up a vegan outreach group in Melbourne.
Please see:
http://www.veganoutreach.org/ and http://www.veganoutreach.org/advocacy/meaningfullife.html
I am looking for dedicated, pragmatic people who would like to make a genuine difference through an on-going campaign of leafleting to students with the aim of converting as many as possible to veganism. Although it doesn't sound very glamorous, it is probably the most effective thing one can do to reduce suffering in the world ( see http://www.utilitarian-essays.com/dollar-worth.pdf (http://www.utilitarian-essays.com/dollar-worth.pdf)).
No matter how angry you are with the state of the world, I need people who can put on a friendly face, put aside any disputes with other groups, and just get out there with the aim of spreading a message of kindness.
If someone turned round to you and said "But I couldn't give up ice cream" - could you respond with "Well give up everything except ice cream"? If you are pragmatic, can be polite, have good social skills, and would like to be involved in an ongoing campaign to spread veganism round Melbourne, please get in touch.
