Peanut butter bird feeder
Category: For The Animals

This recipe is suitable for a:

Preparation Time: 5 minutes
Serves:

Ingredients:
-----------------------------------------------------

1x Large Pinecone
4x Tablespoons of Peanut butter
1/2 Cup bird seed (crushed nuts or sunflower seeds if you don't have any bird seed).
2x Feet of string.

Instructions:
-----------------------------------------------------

Tie the string around the Pinecone stem or Pinecone its self leaving enough string to tie to a branch. Coat the Pinecone in Peanut butter as best you can (this can be quite messy). Cover the Pinecone in the seed and tie up to a branch. This will keep the birds entertained for hours.

Additional comments:
-----------------------------------------------------

**IMPORTANT** If you have cats be sure they have bells on their collars and try to put the Pinecone as much out of their reach as possible. However if you do have cats it's proabably too risky and might not be a good idea, safety first :)

You know, I don't remember if we used pine cones or just thick sticks, but I remember doing this in summer camp once as a kid.

I did this in kindergarten! Too bad I have no trees in my yard (if you can call it a yard)

Oh yeah, we make these every year and hang them in the trees behind the school.
I never thought about making them for the birds that eat from the feeders we have in the trees in our yard. We have tons of pine cones in our neighborhood. I have all the ingredients for these. Our little birdies will love them!
