Any of you guys ever been to Govinda's restaurant in Darlinghurst, NSW? If so, what did you think? :)
My mum & I watched the Sydney Weekender this afternoon and they did a segment on Govinda's.
Mum REALLY wants to go there now. ;) It absolute sublime. :p haha

I rate everything about this place (http://www.govindas.com.au/), except for their $4.50 juice [but they have more options] :D No alcohol, although this is not necessarily a bad thing.
Seriously though, I love the room, the set-up is cute, the way you [or, I at least] feel immediately comfortable when I'm there. I find the staff to be easy going, nice. Food has always been fresh when I've been there. It might be the vego thing, but generally I get a good vibe from the place, and the other diners certainly add to that. Their current menu has a few things listed on the buffet with a [V] next to them. I can only imagine it must mean vegan? Did they mention anything about it (the vegan stuff) on the show, because in the past I'd heard some vegans were annoyed they didn't specify what was safe for them to eat? I also like the venue, it's easy to get to, take the train to Kings Cross, then walk just a little further past the giant Coke sign.
One thing I have not tried though, is the movie room! I really want to see a movie up there, don't even care which one, it's all about the seating. I am probably due to return there. I need the movie-seat experience. Hopefully there will be some more gigs coming up on Oxford Street, so I have more excuses to go to Govinda's!
govindas is great. lying back in the couches watching the movie is almost better than the food i reckon :) although last time i was there with my partner, we ended up leaving early because we were lying near a dude who reeked !! we think it was his feet but we werent exactly sure :stinkeye: we started laughing so much we thought wed better go.
also, its only about 30 bucks for a dinner and a movie. great value when you think about it :)

Ok, I'm soooo going!! ;) The seating in the movie room sounds fab. :D
Mum & I both agree that the dinner/movie package is a great deal, good for price etc. :smitten:
You get a train to Kings Cross? Sweet. ;)

I have been there, but it was in 1997 so I'm thinking it could be a bit different now! I watched a movie there (Boogie Nights..haha) and thought it was a pretty cool chilled out place.
It's been so many years since I've been to Govinda's. I used to go quite a bit. Should go back again soon. Just asked a friend to go and she said yes!
