Hey everyone... I'm going to Lakeside, a small town near Lake Erie and Marblehead, for two weeks and I was wondering if anyone knows the area and/or any vegan friendly restaurants around there? I'm kind of doubting it but just thought i'd ask...

I've been able to eat vegan, with some work, in Sandusky, which is not far away. There are a couple of nice groceries there too, if you have cooking facilities. You may want to check out www.vegohio.com

I second the mention of cooking facilities. It will be easier if you prepare all or most of your own meals. Although that area is fairly built up, you may be able to find some roadside produce stands and score some local produce. Corn, tomatoes, peaches, summer apples, melons, squash, beans... I'm getting hungry just thinking about it.

If you won't have a traditional kitchen, take a Hot Pot. Between that and a microwave and a toaster, you can make more than enough foods to last you two weeks without getting bored.

Restaurants would be harder. My experience in Sandusky indicates lacto-ovos may not have much variety in restaurants, and it's worse for vegans. You can get a salad at most chain restaurants, some have veggie burgers (vegan or not), and there are a ethnic places which could be vegan friendlier... or not.
