I'm not a member of Facebook so I'm not sure if this is serious or not. One statement is that he eats animal products, while he also says he is vegan. Obviously one of those is false. I thought others would enjoy reading this.

Who actually runs that profile? Al Gore has said he's not a vegan or vegetarian on a number of occaisons. He also will not advocate a vegetarian diet for environmental reasons.

I've read that the proper name for his dietary practice is 'DAISNAIDian' (do as I say, not as I do). They're environmentalists who eat a diet rich in fruits from the plant hypocritus majorus.

I agree with SevenSeas.

It looked to me like Gore did the profile himself, but I could be wrong. A lot of people use the term vegan but don't understand what the word means.

How do I get facebook in English? If I put in facebook.com it switches to es.facebook.com. If I put in en.facebook.com - the same thing.

The US News article says "I am vegan", and then "I eat only free-range sustainable animal products."

OK I finally figured out how to get it in English. But now, when I go on Albert Gore's page (althouth there are 500 al gores) I don't see the same thing that the US News page shows. I don't see any "I am green" section at all. How do I get to it?

I love how Al Gore owns the company that he buys carbon credits from.

Which house? He owns more than one. But his biggest home, the one outside of Nashville is definitely an energy hog.

A while back (Feb 2007) the Tennessee Center for Policy Research got Gore's utility bills (public record) for a 2-year period. His Nashville home used nearly 221,000 kilowatt-hours in 2006. Which is more than 20 times the national average. His average monthly electric bill was around $1300/mo.

That's a lot of energy. And that's just one of his 3 homes.

tehehe.

i was watching c-span late one night recently and saw him speaking at some convention where he admitted that his meat-eating was hypocritcal. he went on to say you have to start somewhere, blah, blah, blah, while he was sweating profusely.. i still like him though. he has raised awareness to a new level. that can't be ignored..

The nashville home is the one i was thinking of.thanks for the numbers tho that was interesting. Juts reinforces my opinion that he is nothing more than a hypocritical media hound.

I wouldn't say I am either. I saw his movie and I was very disappointed that he never mentioned how your diet can have an impact on the planet. At least he's tried to do some good, and I can't say that about too many politicians. I do feel he would have made a better President than Bush and probably should have been the winner.

I don't know if Gore's house is served by a company with this electricity, but many areas in Tenessee have electricity generated by the Tennesee valley hydroelectric system. Electricity in these areas does not come from burning fossil fuels.

Where I live, 221,000 kW hours would cost about $44,200. The monthly bill would be $3,683.

I'm pretty sure the Tennessee Valley Authority provides the electricity for Nashville (I lived in Murfreesboro for 3 years) but I don't think that's any reason to waste it.

This was published in the Tennessean Newspaper about a year ago.

$1,500 per month for the house and an additional $500 for the spa in the back yard. The house is 10,000 square foot with a massive water sprinkling system that comes on every night at 1 in the morning.

Although Gore says he is now walking the walk because he installed some solar heating equipment he is far far from moving to the green side of life. He did go out and buy a green friendly vehicle but has yet to be seen driving it...it's just sitting in the carport.

The guy has become a mega millionair by spreading the fear of global warming....most of which is just bunk. I wish I could one time in my life figure out how to "scare-the-public-for-bucks" like the major players pushing the "green" movement.

Don't get me wrong there is much much to be done to clean our way of life up to become more environmentally friendly, but not as much as some would have you think.

By the way, Gore couldn't get elected to dog catcher in TN.

For environmentally friendly living advice I prefer to take my advice from Ed Begley, Jr. He's a true environmentalist who really walks the walk!

I think Al Gore was tired of being only a Vice President (whoever thinks of the VP unless the President gets assassinated) and an also ran and his "people" brainstormed which bandwagon they should put him on to secure their paychecks (and increase his by the way), and the environment was the flavor of the month. If he was really interested in the environment, he would have long ago begun re-tooling his home so that it used solar power and was ultra well insulated to cut down further on power consumption, etc.,
