Nuttelex.

(Hint - If you'd Googled (Au.) 'vegan margarine' you'd have got over 9,000 results. (It's not rocket surgery))

LOL @ Bof. [Love Jack. It's Father Jack isn't it? I don't even think of his name I just think DRINK! and FECK! Been so long since I've seen the show]

Nuttelex is available with all the other regular margarines, in a cube shaped container, there are white, light blue, and light yellow boxes - a few different varieties to choose from. But check the use by dates...if your local supermarket is anything like mine, they are a bit hopeless at removing old stock =)

Thank you for your reply Kristen, my main concern was whether I could find any such products in a regular supermarket as I don't have any specialist stores here.

Yep it's pretty handy having it in the Coles/Woolies types. I can't be stuffed going to a specialty store. Ohh so lazy :D

The similarity is astounding ;) I guess they had to zoom in so the bottle of Rrrrum wasn't visible.

I think there are other vegan margarine brands out there... not entirely sure... I'm another Nuttelex devotee. It's pretty easy to get, it's in larger supermarkets.

So my other question is, what does it taste like? :)

Uh.... apart from "margarine"? Uh... sort of like... solidified vegetable oils? Kind of buttery?

haha well, I didnt know if it would actually taste like margarine.. the name is a little misleading. I thought it might be a bit.. nutty. You know, like vegan cheese that tastes nothing like cheese.

Ah, no. Just tastes like your average marge.

I'm another Nuttelex fan. It's perfectly "normal" tasting.

However if you do manage to have a good health food store near you, a spread that is much healthier than Nuttelex is Melrose Omega Blend which is made with flaxseed oil, canola oil and olive oil, it's rich in omega 3 and 6. However I've only ever been able to buy it from a health food shop so it's definitely not as easy to get as Nuttelex. I thought it was worth mentioning though! :)

Thanks Charlottejane
I bought Nuttelex today and love it, I think it tastes better than regular margarine.

Hi JNH :) just wanted to point out that there is an Aussie forum where you can ask questions like this that are specific to our region :)

I've been getting some mild acne since i started eating Nuttelex. I never used to eat margarine before, I used to eat cheese on toast at breakfast. Nuttelex on toast now replaces that and i do notice it seems rather oily, hopefully this reaction will clear up.

It might not be the Nuttelex that's giving you this reaction... Have you just recently given up cheese? I know some people disagree with me on this, but I believe that it's possible to experience detox symptoms (including skin breakouts) from eliminating dairy from the diet. Since giving up dairy, my skin went bonkers for at least 6 months. Seriously, I had never had any skin problems before in my life, even as a teenager, then as soon as I gave up dairy it was horrible. I know this doesn't happen to everyone, but it was my experience.

Now my skin is fine again, but a couple of occasions when I've had milk in coffee while out have left me with pimples again for the next week.

However, if you think it is the nuttelex, instead of having nuttelex on toast for breakfast, maybe swap it for some avocado? Or Tahini? Yum!!

I have recently given up cheese yes, that could be it.

I find a good dose of blueberries clears the skin up!
