I crave cheese. Lots and Lots of it. Is it cuz I'm new to it all or am i weak. I try not to give in to the cravings but I've slipped a few times and had a few bites.

What can I do to help ease them? Have any of you experience anything like that?

This will sound funny, but I found that eating guacamole helped ease my cheese craving. Even just plain avocado. I think it might be the fat and mouth feel that does it.

ETA: I forgot to say, this craving is not because you are weak. I personally think dairy is addictive and you are only human. It's wonderful that you are looking for alternatives, though.

I don't miss cheese so much, although I sometimes miss the things that usually have it, such as pizza and cheddar cheese crackers. I'm lucky enough to live in an area with a pizzeria which offeres a vegan-cheese option. But I think I miss liquid milk more.

People like cheese because it tastes good. Is there something specific about cheese that you miss, but other foods might have?

Read up on casomorphin. It has opioid effects. You may not feel so badly about being addicted to cheese when you discover it shares effects with morphine.

I had withdrawal during my period of dairy elimination as well. Lasted a few weeks.

Fatty/salty things help, like avocado, or nutritional yeast.

I don't crave cheese like I used to and I was a really, really big fan of imported french cheeses. Trust me, the cheese cravings will pass. I'm not even really vegan. I've had cheese by accident a few times and really, it's not as great as I remember. Avocado wins over cheese any day of the week

Anything that has to do with cheese i crave. weather it be cheese crackers or a quesadilla or just plain cheese it makes go mad with wanting. i salivate just thinking about it.

And thanks but i have a certain dislike to avocado. I'm not a big fan of it. Anything else that might help? Or should I just ignore the cravings and hope they go away?

that's funny because that's exactly what I did. I started eating soo much guacomole when I tried giving up cheese. I liked to use it as a replacement for cheese in quesadillas.

i think i'd try peanut butter, garlicy things, nuts, hummus, nutritional yeast, toffutti better than cream cheese, (salty, rich, strong-tasting fatty things) and throw in some sheer bloodyminded willpower.

when i quit smoking i found that the cravings were really intense, but only hung around for a few minutes at a time if i said 'no!' to myself and then conciously ignored them. if you focus on something else completely different, and tell yourself its not gonna happen, you aint gonna eat it, you'll forget about it after a few minutes. just keep doing that over and over, one craving at a time, and sooner or later your brain will get the message.

Tofutti Better Than Cream Cheese really is better than cream cheese :) I would pick that over the real thing even if I wasn't concerned about eating dairy. Ooh I want cucumber sammiches, now.

I really craved cheese in the beginning but it passed. Now the thought of it turns my stomach.
