As some of you knew, I flew to Spain two days ago.

I´m raw 100% but also vegan. However, very sparingly times I need to eat something non raw because there is no other way (in Spain it´s impossible to be raw 100%, but as Vegan... there are no problems) However, as just Vegan is easier. Well... I will share some experience:

I´m extremely disappointed with JFK airport. I was expected to eat raw there... such an international airport... (between international gates 13 to 41) Well... it was a hassle even for a vegan.

They had no subway restaurant, (which is not so yummy... but it gives a shot on a hard moment) nor other veggie friendly locations. The trip had a five hour delay because my aircraft was stuck on San Francisco (I hate when that happens...) so I needed to eat. Well... everything had meat or fish on it. Only a very few dishes with milk and/or cheese were vegetarian... I could eat a wrap without a lot of stuff (I had to wait like 30 minutes... as I wanted to make sure they clean the grill... as they used to prepare the stuff (even the vegetarian ones) at the same place they prepared the meat :spew: Thanks God... My wraps were the first one after a cleaning. That´s was the best thing.

Well... extremely disappointed with JFK.

As per my experience with American Airlines... I must :wayne: When I booked the trip, on special needs I selected, "Pure Vegetarian" (no raw option though :() They called me to confirm that was right a day before. When dinner time came, they brought me a special dish. Had my name and my seat #. I´ve got a salad and then wild rice with garbanzo beans and tomato sauce. As per dessert, two slices of watermelon (honey dew) The breakfast, I´ve got fruit, a vegan cookie (probably accidentally vegan, but it was as I made sure twice) and a soy yogurt. I was amazed. It did not land so well on my stomach (I always and only eat raw) But it helped me to pass my 22 hour trip (Chicago - New York - 8 hours wait - Barcelona)

I´m really happy with AA. To go back, I will have something good for eat (probably raw) as El Prat (Barcelona´s airport) is waaaaaaaay a lot better that the US airports I visited (Chicago O´Hare, New York JFK, San Francisco -the big one- and Los Angeles) As on Barcelona´s you can find several different restaurants and not only crap fast food places like on the US one... How pathetic... I expected too much for one of the most important airports in the world... sigh...

you should try and fly with air canada next time (somehow... i don't know how, hahaha). they have a 'fruit platter meal' which sounds really raw to me.
