Wooden Spoon Kitchen in Smith Street, Collingwood- Highly recommended! Plenty of Vegan & Vegetarian options (indicated beside each dish), but also choices for the Omnis :) (Oh and very friendly staff hehe)

Menu here. (http://www.woodspoonkitchen.com/menu.pdf)

Best Vegan dish (in my opinion)
Dengaku Don $11-50
(eggplant in miso based sauce w tofu & vegies – mildly spicy)

Lisa...let's move to Melbourne.
Reasons For:
-The men are quite lovely [to look at. I don't know too many but the ones I do know are nice also] *cough*MichaelPaynter*cough*.
-The Sport
-The vego places; restaurants, veganwares..
-The vego/animal welfare type NGOs.
-The Juice shop in town with all the bags of oranges out front.

Reason against:
-Their weather confuses me no end.

It's so tempting...except I have a dog, and you seem to like your mum =D Ahh but the thought of starting new. New job, new potential man, fooood. [[don't mind me. sh!tty night at work. I need a new job, but otherwise life is alright]]

Thanks for that Luxe! And I agree Kirsten, Melbourne is lovely!

Can any Melbournians recommend a veg friendly restaurant in the CBD at all? My husband travels to Melbourne regularly for work and never gets much time to suss out a good place to eat.

Thanks!

lol at everyone I meet, calling me Kirsten. :p :D Online I have no problem with it; I put it down to typo's. But I swear, 90% of people at my work call me Kirsten. They probably think I'm an ignorant b**** because I don't answer them anymore. :whack: You can only correct a coworker so many times [like, ten] before you need to assume that they are actually idiots. I blame Kirsten Dunst for this. ;)

I found sanitarium vegetarian sausages today. I didn't buy them, because frankly the products designed to taste/look/feel like meat are as repulsive as the real thing for me. But, I was excited for the vego's who give up meat for health reasons.:hamster:

Some people like them. I don't. There are better "sausages" out there. My parents like sausages and have taken to eating other brands of sausage as opposed to meat ones which is good.

I have to make myself a black and white beanie. I'm going to crotchet it on the train on the way to and from work. Should be done by Saturday I hope, if I start tomorrow.

The Sanitarium ones are disgusting :spew:

I quite like the chickpea and spinach sausages by Eatwell - I get them at Woolworths and/or Coles, but then, they're not exactly fake meat. I also don't mind Fry's vegetarian sausages (from the freezer section) which are also at Woolworths. I eat them very occasionally though. They're quite good to slice and throw into a bean and sausage type casserole every now and then.

It's alright charlottejane :) I'm used to it. I only get annoyed at people who have known me for years and get it wrong ;)

I just read this article for Jamie's Fowl Dinners, which airs tomorrow at 9.30pm on Channel Ten: http://www.theage.com.au/news/people/chef-sets-feathers-flying/2008/07/19/1216492303810.html

I found the first two paragraphs surprising, but as uncool as it is, hopefully it will act as a wake up call for people. I'm not going to compare ways to die, with one way being 'better' than another. Although I do not condone animal cruelty, in a way I'm glad someone in the public eye is willing to do something outrageous in order to get people to think twice about what they buy/consume/allow to happen with their dollar. Seeing male chicks suffocate before their eyes, should be no less sad than having many other male chicks be gassed/go through a grinder. Seeing a chicken electrocuted/drained of blood -to me- is something they deserve/need to see if they are comfortable eating meat.

[Sorry if anything I said rubbed anyone up the wrong way. I'm not happy he's killing animals on tv, but if it brings attention to the issues, hopefully at the very least, something good can come of it]

i dont really like it either but theyre gonna die anyway, so at least their death serves as a learning tool for people. :-/ hopefully one chicks death could save a whole lot more in the future.
