Piercing Antiseptic

Anyone know of a vegan brand I can just grab at the store rather than order offline? I pierced my own nose last night and I plan on going to a tattoo place to get my lip done today. I have some stuff to use for now that my sister gave me, but I'm 100% sure it isn't animal friendly. I should have probably done the smart thing and got the antiseptic, THEN pierced my nose but after I purchased the stuff to do it I was too excited. However, I do not advise anyone on piercing their own nose, or any other body parts except your ears. :P

This is what both my piercers recommended for me when I had my lip and navel done.

"Most piercers strongly suggest using mild sea salt-water soaks several times a day to speed up the healing process. Sea salt soaks help remove crusties (dried discharge and lymph secretions), draw out impurities, and relieve any irritation or itching.

Dissolve 1/4 teaspoon of sea salt into 8 ounces of warm water in a clean, disposable cup. Distilled water is recommended.

If possible, invert the cup right over your piercing and allow it to soak for a few minutes. For certain placements such as nose rings, it is easier to soak a clean cotton ball, cotton swab, or gauze pad in the salt-water solution and gently apply it to the piercing. For oral piercing, you should rinse your mouth briefly with the sea salt-water once or twice daily.

Remember to use sea salt and not table salt. While sea salt is a natural product with no added chemicals, table salt has iodine, which is too strong a chemical to use on a new piercing. "

Seconding the sea salt. Thats what any piercer worth their um, salt, will tell you to use.

:yes: When I had my nose pierced they gave me a a little baggy of really fine sea salt to mix with warm water. It worked very well.

Yep. salt. Like that H2Ocean stuff those places usually sell.

But honestly, this relieves a lot of the pain and doesn't kill all the bacteria. I've also been advised to use antibacterial soaps... but I usually never did this.. it's just what I was told by a few people (all with lots of piercings or experience)

Yeah, the guy that did it told me to use antibacterial soap and mouth wash for the lip piercing. I assumed they were going to try to sell me a bottle of antiseptic, but he said the stuff was just for ears. I'll use the sea salt soak also, because I'm not going to go out and buy a bar of Dial soap like he suggested. :P

Whatever you do, before you touch it, wash your hands really good with an antibacterial soap. Use the soap on your nose in the shower. Twice a day use a mixture of sea salt and warm water (you can find the recipe off of Google I'm pretty sure). Don't use cotton balls or Q-Tips...it'll get caught on the piercing. If you can't gently irrigate it then place the mixture on a tissue and hold it on the piercing for a minute or two. Don't play with it and whatever you do don't use petroleum based products like Neosporin. It should take about 4-6 weeks to heal

Dial soap is iffy. On their site a while back(don't know if its still there) I saw they mention they use vegetable glycerin when available, otherwise its from animal sources.

Kiss My Face has an antibacterial face soap. You may be able to find it in the drug store. My drugstore carries their line.
