View Full Version : Am I insane?

My friend has convinced me to pay $200 to get up at 5.30am 3 mornings a week for four weeks so I can spend an hour outside in the cold and rain to have someone blow whistles at me and make me run around and want to die and stuff.
Otherwise known as bootcamp.
So good idea or should I be locked away in an asylum for not only volunteering but paying for this to be inflicted upon me?

sounds pretty insane to me, but everyone I know has hated it while they were doing it but decided it was worth it when they were done.
It'll give you heaps of energy through the day as well!

Another one of my friends went into great detail about how she despised every moment that she did hers but I'd already signed up by this stage :(
And zoe, whom I'm doing it with, did one a couple of years ago and said she pretty much wanted to die the whole time but she must have got something out of it to be doing it again. That, or she lacks hindsight.

maybe its like pregnancy - the chemicals in your brain kick in afterwards and you are happy to go through it again ... ?

Sounds insane to me...but what is sanity, really? I think it's all relative...one person's insanity could be another person's sanity I guess! :)

Yeah, your posting on VB. Of course you're nuts. Boot camp only confirms that. You can't get up and 4am and run round like a nutty bugger for free, can't you? 'Cause that would be my choice.
I've heard it said that if you think you are insane that means you are really sane. It's only the truly insane that consider themseves sane. I do not hold with that theory. I do not think that personal awareness about one's mental status and being insane to be mutually exclusive.
Good luck with boot camp. Better thee than me! :D

I think it sounds pretty cool, honestly. I'd do it. But then, I'm a fitness junkie.
Much like most strenuous activity, it will probably blow while you're doing it and you'll want to die. But afterwards I'd imagine it will feel pretty amazing!

I had my first session today. We began by doing a timed sprint and we do one again in the final session to see how much we've improved. There were a lot of suicide runs which I was expecting but **** do I hate those. Also some boxing plus resistance training. The first 20 minutes I really wanted to die but after that, although I was still in pain, I definitelty warmed up and seemed to have more endurance.
I really like my trainer, she's not one of those crazy nazi types but still pushes you. There are some really really fit people in the group and I think they've all done quite a few of these before as they were friendly with Claire, the trainer. So I guess there must be results from this!
And I surprised myself with the ab work - it turns out I'm not *quite* as weak as I thought!
I can barely walk now though, I've never felt such tension in my legs before. Hopefully it'll mostly be gone by wednesday!

I love boot camps, heh. We have great a great one here in Denver if anyone reads this and is interested. They are a bit addictive, it gets pricey paying $200 for 5 weeks of fitness. Only 3 days a week seems a little pricey. Ours are 4 days a week, 1.5 hours each day.
The first week is the worst, soreness wise. Don't take more than 2 days off in a row. Your body will tell you that you are dying, it's probably lying. Boot camps taught me I'm capable and even good at things I never imagined. They also made me fearless with regards to public humiliation. I was shy about working out in front of people now I do pushups in the grass at public parks.
Keep at it, keep stretching, don't sit for long periods of time in the day, you will keep surprising yourself! =)

Good luck with your boot camp. There's one that goes on in the park across the pond from my parent's house. It looks like murder.

working out in the morning is the best way to start a day, in my opinion
