I'm going to be in DC in about a week for some sightseeing with the family. I'm going to be there from July 4-9, so I've got some time to waste. I'm going to make a day trip to Baltimore as well, but I'm not sure what date exactly.

I've checked out VegDC already, and while a lot seem to be really good looking, it's all a bit overwhelming for someone who has never been to a "real" veg*n restaurant. I'm really open to ANY kind of vegetarian/vegan food out there, or even places that are mostly omni with good veg options. I'm going to be with two omnis- one very picky that I'll be with during the day and evening and one that is rather open minded but has a conference to attend during the day, but they've agreed to try some new stuff- within reason.

I'm staying in Arlington, and I'll get a metro pass so basically I'll be able to go all over the area- I'm not scared by walking a few miles to get to somewhere great if it's worth it. I'm pretty sure I'll be checking out Sticky Fingers Bakery since I've heard nice things about them.

If anyone from the DC area has any suggestions on where to eat or anywhere to go that's out of the ordinary/cool, I'd love to know. Thanks!

Well, after Sticky Fingers, it's all downhill. :p Just kidding, but it is good. If I still lived in DC, I'd weigh 400 lbs.

Java Green is a pretty omni-friendly place. There's lots of mock meat dishes from which to choose, along with other "meat free" fare. It's a short walk from the White House, etc. too. There's a really nice Indian fast-food "chain" too, called Naan and Beyond (if you say it with the Buzz Lightyear voice, it sounds cooler :p). I've been to the one inside the Shops at National Place many times, and to one of the others as well. Absolutely delicious! :lick:

As for places to go/things to do...you have to go to the Spy Museum..it's so very cool. :yes: The Air and Space Museum is neat too!
