I see the other thread has been closed, and we here in Dallas seem to be the minority. Maybe we can get this running again.
I'm in Rockwall, just East of downtown Dallas, but I spend lots of time in Lakeview, near lower Greenville.
Anyone else around?

Hi!
I'm in Dallas near Lovers & Greenville.
Dallas seems to be behind on the times as far as eating healthy. We are slowly getting there.
I went to Farmer's Market today. I contemplating using my gas to drive downtown. I was not really impressed with what I saw. I think I can do better at Central Market or Whole Foods and not waste my gas.
Where do you shop in Rockwall?

Usually just Kroger. They have a decent selection of vegan foods there.
The Whole Foods I go to is out on lower Greenville, so I shop there much less frequently.
I've only seen one vegetarian restaurant thus far in the area: Cosmik Cafe. I've never been though.

Hi! I don't live in Dallas any more, I live on the other side of the metroplex in NW Fort Worth. BUT, gotta let you know that they have opened a Spiral Diner in Dallas. ALL VEGAN and YUMMMMMMMMMMMMM. I go to the one in Ft. Worth, but I stopped by the one in Dallas when I was over there a couple months ago. Soooo good.

Oh I pass almost right by there all the time! I must check it out. However, it's only vegetarian and not vegan, correct? What do you recommend I get?

Hmm, it appears to be in an unfamiliar area. Would probably take me an hour to get there, but the menu looks great. For the record, what do you recommend?

You are correct, not vegan.
The menu changes daily. You could call the day of to find out what is on the buffet. The salad bar is excellent!
Mesquite vegan here. I spend time in Rockwall as I work there, run into a lot of vegans at my work (food oriented, burritos).
Aw, Kalachandjis is not vegan? Do they have any vegan items, at least?

I believe they do.
There's a vegan burrito shop that I was unaware of right in my town?! Please fill me in!

I am not kidding when I tell you that I haven't had anything at Spiral that I didn't like. I usually go on Sundays and that's when they have a brunch menu with lots of breakfasty stuff. Vegan bisquits and gravy! All you can eat vegan pancakes! (at least at the FW one, not sure about the Dallas one...) The Taco Salad is yum, the Sweet Luv'us Hummus Wrap is yum yum, the Grilled Tofu San'ich is AWESOME (kinda sounds like a weird combination of ingredients, but is soooooooooo good,) Jamaican Jerk San'ich is really good, Sketti & Meatballs nom, MIGAS!, Spiral Burger is great... Seriously, I have loved them all.
Okay, now I am hongry. I am definitely gonna have to go there this Sunday. Bisquits and gravy here I come!

I checked out the menu online. Everything looks absolutely FAB!
I emailed the link to my friend, and we are going to Spiral Diner next week!
Can't wait!
The hummus wrap does sound good!

I wish Spiral Diner was closer.
Kalachandjis is very near however. I plan on heading over there very soon.

Well, I went to Kalachandjis today for dinner, and it was awesome! The atmosphere is amazing. I love the outdoor seating. Exceptional food and salad bar. The service as well was as nice as people come.
I believe they do.

Yep, Chipotle Mexican Grill on the south side of I-30, right around SH 205.
Of course, it's not -just- vegetarian/vegan, but just avoid the pinto beans and you'll be fine. :D
Tortillas are whey/casein-free, guacamole is not a crappy milk-based "avocado dip", etc.
I actually discovered this place like 5 years back (in a different location though) because a friend was hooked and wanted me to come with him, claimed they had veg options, etc.

Thank god!!!! I LOVE Chipotle. So you're sure the rice doesn't have butter or anything? That place is real near where I live, so I'll be surely stopping in frequently.

I'm quite sure. Morton kosher salt is added, as well as citrus juice and fresh cut cilantro. The soy oil is what makes it taste buttery, which had me worried for a bit too.
I'll be there at 4 tomorrow if you'd like to swing by and ask any questions, and/or eat. :-)
I'm sure to take care of my veg*ans up there.
Edit: By tomorrow, I mean "in 11 more hours". I forget about this whole "night time" situation.
Can you support this company that is owned and operated by macdonald's and still not be supporting the meat industry. I, personally, don't think so.
Also how do you sit there and eat your food when you have to smell all the dead flesh on the grill in the back?
Sprial diner has now opened a location in oak cliff eclipse, in case you didn't know!!

That last part is good to know, but they bought themselves back from "McDonalds" years ago.
Christ.
okay well, i would argue the same point regardless of who own it, you're promoting killing the cows, but that's off topic, so I won't continue.
Your chipotle is probably more veg than others since you are compassionate. I know there are a lot of pimple faced geeks that just don't care

I got addicted to Chipotle long ago, and since they offer vegan food, I can't help it. It's one of the only places near me that offers satisfying vegan food.
Also, it just so happens to be the place that initially sparked the path to vegetarianism. It all started like 2 years ago when I was eating there. I'd always get the chicken in my burritos. One day, I noticed a vein in my chicken. It grossed me out, and changed the way I looked at meat. Though I continued to be a carnivore up until January of this year.

Well, I'm yet to get to bed. Frankly I probably won't even be awake until 4.
By the way, the Chipotle you work at is the new one right? Opened like 2 months ago or something?

Yep, Jan 25 or something like that. I transferred from the one in Mesquite, and don't mind the extra drive.
Now about cow killing to other poster: What shop do you go to that does not have meat products whatsoever in the DFW area? I still have to defend Chipotle, the way they're set up is pretty solid. There's very rarely an idiot crew member for more than a week.

When you get a kid ordering a burrito with rice, black beans, corn, guac, and TONS of the medium salsa, it'll be me.
I crave that medium salsa. Could be hotter, but the taste is perfecto.

Duly noted. :-) I'll be there at 4, we close at 10, and will be shut down on Friday, so get the medium salsa while it's available. :D
.... ... just realized, that's the way I get mine. Rice, black, corn, guac, and sometimes medium.
E: I could toss extra jalapenos into your medium salsa, that's what gives it a kick. ;)
E2:welp, the whole foods on Preston&Forest is open in an hour, gonna start rolling up. peace, veggieboards
