Well, it's looking like I'll be moving to Edmond late this summer. Parents put in an offer on a house there and it got accepted, so unless something goes wrong, I'm back in Edmond again. (UCO grad)
Anyone know anything about nice apartments there? I remember Bryant Grove as being horribly scuzzy, Byrant Square was nice back then, but I've heard it no longer is, and Kickingbird is even more run down than before. I've lived in each of those complexes in the past, and assume there are others, but can't think of any.
I don't know if they have anything vegan friendly, but they do seem to have a good yoga studio, so at least I won't have to deprive myself of exhaustion and pain.
Does anyone have any reccommendations for places to shop for good food? Restaurants that not only know what a vegan is, but can actually serve you something vegan that is NOT an iceberg salad? Would there happen to be any vegan hotspots where someone with a camera could start up a collection of vegan pics? Or is there a clandestine coven of vegans who covertly implant illicit veggies in people's food?

Why must we have a thread prefix? Isn't it a bit silly considering that this is THE exclusively private Okie-only forum? Wouldn't it be safe to assume that threads here are at least vaguely Oklahoma-related?

Sorry DMZ, I know nothing about Edmond. I'm a southsider.

because many of us browse the forums using the "New Posts" feature, so it isn't immediately clear which forum the thread is in...
sheesh.... okies.... :p

I'd rather hear the Red Dirt Rangers playing "Used To Be"... :guitar:

Sorry Randy, not familiar. The only Red Dirt band I know of is Cross Canadian Ragweed.

I grew up South side and Moore, up til the time I turned 21 and moved to Norman.
What part of the South side are you from Mary?

DMZ, are you in Tulsa, moving to Edmond, or did you move to Tulsa? (per your user title)
I went to college at OC, and was fine as a vegetarian. I was still eating cheese at the time though. I was able to find out about things like rennet in cheese, and get ingredients lists without too much difficulty. There were several times that this knowledge left me with the choice of salad or salad, but at least I didn't accidentally eat something meaty.
There's a really nice health food store in OKC that would probably have any specialty items you'd want/need. It's called Akins, and used to be at 63rd and May (think it still is). From Edmond, you can get there in like 20 minutes.
If you're not moving with your folks, then why are you going to Edmond? (not criticizing, just not getting what's happening, from your first post)

No longer moving to Edmond. Was moving there because my parents were. Had originally moved to Tulsa to be able to spend time with them, but before a year was even up, my dad got transferred to OKC.
However, *smile* am no longer going to be living in Oklahoma. Will be moving to Iowa City at the end of July. The vegan man I met on veggieconnection....we're moving in together. :D

I'm happy the two of you are getting on so well!
I wish I'd have gotten to meet you while you were here. You should still pop in and chat with us here in the OK area though, ok?
