Has anyone else tried this? I just bought it last night, the gravy is awesome. I love their sauces, like the riblet sauce. And the meatloaf is very er...meatlike. Made some instant mashed potatos and corn on the side. Great meal.

I thought it was kind of mushy. Wasn't too impressed but it would have been better with a side of mashed potatoes and some peas. :)

I made it in the microwave, probably better when made in the oven.

I second the mushiness...though it may have looked unappetizing(grayish-brown blob) it actually tasted good..I was feeling the gravy..

The BBQ Chik'N is also new...better than the Riblets but w/ the same tangy BBQ sauce..tastes incredibly realistic.

For some reason the one thing I *really* want to try is the one thing none of the stores here will carry yet. Everybody is talking about it, and I thought I'd seen it before but maybe I imagined that. I had it all planned to have it for dinner last night with potatoes(it's the talk about there being extra gravy that's really tempting me too) carrots and peas, but nooooooo. :(
Someday I will find it, I just hate having to be patient until then. Having to wait will probably make it a let down by that time.

kittay - I think you'll get it eventually. All or our major grocery stores (including Kroger and Wal Mart) carry them.

They don't stock it in our stores, so I can't judge - but we have connections with the guy who stocks meat and soy meat (I call it smeat) so we get him to order what we want :D

Gardenburger also just came out with the herb crusted cutlet. It is really good too! I don't know what meat it is supposed to taste like but it is very tasty. Almost too tasty... just cuz they're veg*n doesn't mean it's healthy, huh? At least it is healthier than a breaded meat thingy.

this reminded me more of cheap salisbury steak than meatloaf. i made meatloaf once using the gimme lean stuff witha traditional meatload recipe...was pretty good if i covered it in ketchup or mashed potatoes :)

I do like these, but agree that my first impression was that they taste like salisbury steak! I make these with my famous garlic mashed potatoes and chili corn on the cob, and my omni guests enjoy it!

I make my own meatloaf..I will post the recipe. Try it, it is simple, stays together and you can eat in for 2 days and cold on a sandwich!

I have not tried GB meatloaf.

Amy's "meat"loaf is awesome.

Just thought I'd mention, I don't know if you were referring to their veggie loaf. If you were, it does contain honey, so it's not 100% vegan. :whip:

If you weren't, well, nevermind. :dizzy:

I've had the Gardenburger "meat" loaf and was not impressed. I also thought it was pretty mushy and it tasted really salty to me. Was able to stomach it, but threw the rest of the box out if I remember correctly. I have had the Amy's veggie loaf recently and thought it was 100 times better than the Gardenburger one. Yea...it does contain honey, though, if you're worried about that.

Those of you who tried the GB meatloaf a while back may want to give it another go.

I always thought it was mushy, but ate it anyway because it was a quick protein source with few calories.

However, the last couple boxes I've purchased tasted different.... not the sauce, but the texture. It seemed more firm... reminded me more of a veggie burger in terms of texture.

So they may have changed their formula. No official news on that, just my personal observation.

I didn't like it when I had it. I cooked it in the oven even, but the flavor was just off. For my meatloaf substitute, I enjoy Morningstar Farms lentil rice loaf with gravy or ketchup. I have tried to make my own lentil loaf but it will never stay together.
