For a white tablecloth, money's-no-object place, you have to try Candle79 on the UES. (There's also a more casual Candle Cafe.) Omni friends thought it was some of the best food they've ever had.

I've also heard good things about Atlas Cafe, Blossom, and Pure Food and Wine (raw.) I'll be trying them soon, yippee!

If you have a sweet tooth, there's Babycakes bakery (all vegan, some gluten-free items) on the Lower East Side. Not too far from the tenement museum.

I like Candle Cafe.

hey there, i found this website uloveny (http://www.uloveny.com) for checking out restaurants ahead of time. it's got video interviews/reviews and if you type "vegetarian" into the search field a bunch of restaurants pop up. I tried Red Bamboo after watching these reviews http://uloveny.com/nyc/venue/2/362/13807/red_bamboo and i really enjoyed the veggie options! Good luck :-)
