I want to find some good and nice smelling body scrubs, salt scrubs, or other spa treatments. I just bought one at The Body Shop but it has honey in it so I have to return it. Any ideas?

ok. i always have to plug arbonne, because all of their products are vegan, they smell good and feel great.
if you're into scrubs... we have aromatherapy salt scrubs, more fruity scented "sugar slush" scrubs, and we also have a spa line with a foaming body scrub.
check it all out at, www.compassionateskincare.myarbonne.com.

I am pretty sure I saw some Method brand body scrubs at Target. Target has also started carrying some other brands of skincare that are vegan such as Kiss My Face and Dr. Bonner's.

I like a brand called Hugo, which is in some Whole Foods. I also make my own. It's easy and cheap: turbinado sugar (or salt), vegetable glycerin, almond oil, and whatever essential oil I grab from the cupboard, like mint, lemon etc. I like mine really simple and very coarse/scrubby. Plus you just keep reusing the container.

Great, thank you! I will definitely check out target and arbonne online. I think that making homemade body products is freakin sweet, but I would personally rather spend the money right now to buy products than take the time to get the ingredients and then make them at home. Thank you!

I'd reccomend any of the sugar scrubs from Eminence Organics http://www.eminenceorganics.com/, a line of completly natural and organic spa quality skin care products handmade in Hungary, these products are amazing, not only can you recognise almost every ingredient, but they work better than any other product's that I've tried. They are so natural that you could probablly eat some of their products if you really wanted to.

I know you said you'd rather buy than make your own but you probably have these ingredients in your cupboards. You could make it in the time it takes to drive the shop, stand in the line and drive home. But then i am extremely cheap as well, ha ha so i would say that.
1 cup salt or sugar and enough oil to make the consistancy you want plus 1 -2 tsp liquid soap to help it wash off better. You can add a TB cocoa powder to make a chocolate scrub or use essential oils to make it smell nice (I like lavender and marjoram)

good point spidergrrl, making your own body scrub is really simple and saves you a lot of money, as they tend to be very overpriced. all you really need is oil and sugar or salt, I would reccommend grapeseed oil -avalible in ordinary grocery stores- and raw cane sugar. I'd also reccommend to avoid salt as it can be harsh, and it is unsuitable for use after shaving or waxing. You can also add fragrance such as essential oils, and maybe some shea butter to make it more moisturising, though if you do add shea butter I'd probablly cut down on the ammount of oil a bit. and another thing, add the oil slowly, until it's the consistancy you want.

i'd recommend any of the scrubs from this etsy shop: gassnercustomsoaps.etsy.com
you can choose your scents for most of her products, and her stuff is wonderful. also, if you use a scrub in addition to an exfoliating mitten or some such thing, you'll get better results. i used to just use a scrub, but with the mitten i get super duper scrubbie action. you can buy the mitten in most drug stores, spas, or places like walmart.
i think she still has a sample sale going on, in which you pay 1 or two dollars for a smaller version to try it out before committing to the regular size.
she also has GREAT vegan lip balms.

What kind of oil do you use to make a scrub?

Grapeseed or sweet almond oil seem to be the most popular, and are what I would recommend, but you can use pretty much any plant derived oil.

I use either grapeseed ol or sunflower oil in my scrubs. I don't shave or wax so salt has not been a problem for me--but smooth ladies might want to go with sugar if salt is too harsh.

Awesome, I have sunflower oil and I might have almond oil somewhere. I'll give it a try!

Grapeseed oils has a very short shelf life-- so be careful if you're going to use that, not to keep it too long.
Also-- if you're not going to preserve it, please PLEASE don't keep it in the shower or introduce water (ie: make only what you'll use at once) b/c you don't want mold, fungus, or bacteria growing in it!
