Starbucks Vegan List

The following drinks in our menu range are vegan:

* Cappuccino made with soy milk
* Latte made with soy milk
* Classic Hot Chocolate made with soy milk and no whipped cream
* Chai Tea Latte made with soy milk
* Filter Coffee of the Week (black/with a dash of soy milk)
* Caffe Misto made with soy milk
* Americano (black/with a dash of soy milk)
* Mocha made with soy milk and no whipped cream
* Mango Passionfruit Frappuccino
* Raspberry Blackcurrant Frappuccino
* All 'add syrups' such as vanilla, caramel, Irish cream, hazelnut, etc (this does not include the caramel drizzle topping as this contains dairy)

Please note that both the cream and coffee-based Frappuccinos contain dairy and are therefore not vegan-friendly. This is also the same with the Signature hot chocolate.

I'm surprised the raspeberry tchai tea (sp?) isn't vegan. That is if they still do it, I haven't been to Starbucks in years. Thanks for the links, very useful

all I ever get in starbucks is the falafel wrap when im desperate for food and nowhere else has any (if they do! If not its um, hula hoops or something) because its nice but the prices make me cry

have been there a couple of times recently and going again tonight. first time i had 5 bean chili which was very nice. second time (different pub) i wanted the same but they had run out, so i said i'll have the curry, again they'd run out, last option was sausage and mash. ok.. but they've got no mash, so chips and peas it is. arrived and the sausages weren't very good, plus no gravy at all. disappointed. tonight its another pub (3 in my town) and i'm going to either choose 5 bean chili or the curry. i know they also do a burger, but i'm not a big fan of veggie burgers made of veggies. the only burgers i like are like made of soya protein or quorn. let me know your thoughts!?

while i'm on the subject.. are there any beers/lagers/ciders i should avoid? i looked once and remember bud, carlsberg, grolsh were all veggie but can't remember what else??

For the record, their chai latte tea mix is not vegan as it has honey in it. I'm not sure about any of the other drinks.

starbucks may have vegan stuff, but so does mcdonalds. that doesn't mean you should go there. heh - here this is my first post and i'm being all cynical. but it's true - starbucks is a ginormous corporation that single-handedly put thousands of small businesses all over the world out of business as part of their strategy...i may be a little bitter cuz the cafes i used to frequent in socal as a kid were some of the first victims...but i watched families' meager livelihoods crumble, and important meeting places for young people and non-drinkers go under as starbucks systematically built three of their shops within a stone's throw of eachother, knowing full-well that two would go out of business, so long as the mom-and-pops shops closed down first.
obviously this is free-market capitalism, and this isn't a socialist site, and so i suppose i'm slightly off-subject here, but i just think there's more stuff for compassionate people to think about...
much respect...am happy to be on here. and will try not to be a pain in the arse.

Really? Starbucks are really good with vegan over here, i'd be surprised by that, if they're saying its vegan i'd trust them that it is. I've emailed them to check as chai latte is the only thing that makes my life worth living!

Btw has anyone tried their hummus and veggie wrap? It's SOOOOOO good!!

Oh and yes i know starbucks are the devil but I have to have one bad thing in my life and despite people like costa being a little better and not charging for soy milk, their service and coffee is poor!

I also disagree with this. Starbucks filled a gap in the market especially in the u.k. They came along with all these fancy drinks and foam and exciting mugs and cups, it was a novelty and a taste of that american coffee shop life you see on tv and in films. Local coffee shops who were effected by this were obviously not competitive enough! The problem with small businesses is they are often owned by people who think you can just sit back and keep things the same forever, that people will always want a cup of tea in a chipped china cup, they wont! I live near a small town that has no starbucks but it does have 2 small very successful coffee/tea shops that fight to be different and adapt, this is how they are successful. When people moan about small businesses suffering at the hands of big business it's partly because they're sitting back and letting it happen. I have little sympathy for poor business people if you lose to a starbucks especially in this day and age when people are all into supporting small business, you must have been rubbish in the first place.

Did you ask specifically about honey? A lot of companies are really clueless about what vegan means.

Maybe they use a different mix in the UK, but the one they use in the US has honey in it (you can look it up on Tazo.com)...

Yep i mentioned honey. Starbucks here are REALLY good when it comes to vegan though. They mark all wraps etc suitable for vegans clearly as VEGAN in big green letters on the front (i have read the ingredients to be sure) so I would be shocked. When and if i get a response i'll share it. I'm praying for no honey though, otherwise i'm going to be seriously depressed. I'm sure it didn't contain honey though. I remember a few months ago when i was out with my vegan brother in law and he tried mine and mentioned it seemed like something that contained honey i checked it again and found an ingredients list somewhere that said it didn't, though maybe that's my imagination :-/

yeah I went in there the other day and thought "whaaat where the hell is all this vegan stuff then?!"

costa sucks hardcore, i defiantely agree there! even if you were a lacto ovo youd struggle, unless a cheese and tomato toastie for like £4 sounds appealing

The Caffe Nero near me also has a vegan pasta dish, and I guess two things are better than nothing *cough*Costa*cough* but I don't know that I'd call it 'loads'. I thought there might be a vegan soup but according to the website they've all got milk in them.

Cafe nero has a wrap and a pasta and a soup which are all vegan, and they used to have a cous cous but it now has a yogurt dressing - which is in a pot on the side and could be asked to be taken out, depending how you'd feel about that, but if you did the rest would be vegan.

Their chia tea lattes aren't vegan with soya milk though, the woman in neros gave me a free coffee though when she told me to make up for it! How nice is that!?

and starbucks has two vegan products that I've seen, a wrap which is really good, and a godamn awful flatbread! Sooooo dry.

ETA: ooh ^ really their soup isnt vegan anymore? They used to have one that was, they've changed the recipys in their food last year (I used to know 'em off by heart!) so maybe they've deveganed the soup too :( such a shame, they used to have such good food and they seem to be whittling the vegan options down! :(

well don't bother with weatherspoons. went in there tonight for their "new" vegan spinach and chickpea curry and they didn't have any!! neither did they have an heineken lager! so i ended up with a plate of chips (well overcooked and dry and totally awful). shan't be going THERE again!!! NOT RECOMMENDED.

I just wrote to Caffé Nero to ask which of their coffees were vegan when made with soy milk, and thought I'd post the response for you guys:

Caffé Nero - Vegan Drinks

Thank you for your email I've checked with our Food Development Manager who gave me the following information:

The Caffe Mocha is suitable for a vegan diet, as the chocolate powder that we use does not contain any dairy products, but our Mocha Iced Drink (Mocha Frappe Latte) is not suitable, as we add a frappe blend which contains milk.

The coffee, hot chocolate & tea can all be made with soya milk, so the following are suitable for vegans when using soya milk-

americano
cappuccino
latte
espresso / macchiato
hot chocolate (no cream, and no chocolate sprinkles) mocha (no cream) tea fruit boosters fruit juices and smoothies

Caffé Nero - Non-vegan Drinks

The following drinks contain milk powder in some format, so even if they are made with soya milk they would not be suitable for a vegan-

caramelatte
white chocolate mocha
chocolate milano
chai latte
frappe latte
double chocolate frappe
mocha frappe
frappe milkshakes, all flavours

I have tried to have that curry in quite a few Wetherspoon's and they never have it. I was lucky once though and it was pretty nice.:up:
