Alright, this is our thread to discuss our much-discussed meetup and formulate our plan!

We've got a good idea of the "who" part. I still like DMZ's plan to invite Kansas/Texas/surrounding area people too if there's interest. That'd be cool, but there's also not any reason we can't also just have an OK meetup too.

Let's brainstorm! Where would we want to eat? What would we do? What time frame are we theoretically thinking of?

So, Oklahoma people....what works for you? What doesn't?

I'm basically game for whatever. My only stipulation is that I don't drive and am mostly limited to wherever I can get on my bike. So going to Bricktown or something would be difficult for me (and Jenna, she's moving here in July) unless someone wanted to pick people up.

I work 8-5, M-F so evenings and weekends are great for me.

Not in Oklahoma... but I hope everybody is OK after the tornado rampage.

Tornado rampage?

I guess I missed something.

Weekends are best for me as that would involve missing the fewest yoga classes. Hmmm...then again, weekends means I'd have no dog sitter as bicycle maniac parents traipse all over the place every weekend and I don't know anyone else here well enough to trust them with my dogs. This will be tricky....

However, since I'd have to drive in from Tulsa, if there was anyone in Tulsa or between Tulsa and the yet-to-be-determined meet-up location, I could easily pick up people provided they are not seat-belt phobic (car will not run unless everyone is buckled up).

Well, depending on what we all decide on, would your dog be okay at something outside? (I don't know what, that was just a thought I had)

The dogs would be delirious with delight if allowed to attend.

We could always try to either find something happening outdoors, or we could all just meet at a park or something and everybody bring a dish and pig out. It'd be hot if it's summer, but all of us should be able to deal with it being Oklahomans and all.

How many/what kind of dogs do you have?

Question: Are we permitted to bring along omnivores that we plan to convert so long as said omnivores do not bring animal products or talk about them while we're eating, or get confrontational or act like the stereotypical narrow-minded omnivore? I've got a friend in OKC and I plan to veganize her (but subtly of course) once I move there. It'd be helpful if she saw other happy, healthy humans who were veggies.

I wouldn't object to her presence.

They are supposedly both Maltese, but who knows?

Here is Cookie with one of my former students....she's not as tiny as she looks as Sarah's head is not as big as it looks...

Here's Noodle in his "What feet?" pose:

He's a bit stand-offish and prefers food and a comfy place to lie or sit above all else. Cookie is the love bug and would willingly starve to death rather than have someone stop petting her.

If the dogs came, that would leave two seats for passengers...unless someone was willing to sit in the middle of the backseat, then three seats.

i think it should be mandatory that dogs come. :p if you guys do the meetup after i'm already there, i'll be in withdrawal from not having my dog with me so i need lots of doggie luv.

Okay, but no matter what she may claim at the time, Cookie cannot go home with you. :)

Oh, and both dogs are vegan, so they'll want to eat whatever we do. :D

Tornado rampage?

I guess I missed something. I was thinking about the tornado that hit Picher last Saturday... I had it confused with the other storms that caused additional damage in the Midwest. It's been in the news quite a bit in my area.

On a happier note: DMZdogs, your dogs are cute! I remember I thought they were French poodles when I first saw a small pic of one of them. I guess I'm not that familiar with Maltese.

Oh, I see. I hadn't heard about that one. I've also never heard of Picher until now. Looking at Google maps, I see that it's way North of here by the Kansas border so that might explain it.

There's an awesome dog park in Norman! I'd bring mine too! Then, if your dogs and my dogs got along okay, they could stay at my house while we all went to dinner or whatever.

I also have no objections to an omni joining us. :)

I didn't know we have a dog park here! I knew there was one someplace up north by Edmond or something.

I'd be fine with having fun at the park and then dinner following.

Mary, whereabouts is the dog park here? Just for my curiosity.

*EYES BUG OUT* There are dog parks in the OKC area?!?! Wait till I tell the dogs! They have never in their entire lives been to a dog park! Okay, well, Noodle once got to look at one from the outside, but I wouldn't let him go in and play with all the Rotties, Pit Bulls, Malamutes, Huskies, and Other Big Dogs that were frolicking about. That was years ago.

NMMary, Thanks for the offer, but both my kids take time to warm up to other dogs, especially Noodle.

Tom, french poodles? hhehehehe...that's funny. :) Well, they don't look much like Maltese because I cut their hair short, and I cut it myself, so sometimes it's pretty durned awful. Lots of people think they look like poodles. Or bichons, or s h i tzus, or west highland terriers.....

EDIT: We have a swearing filter?! Really, spacing out the letters in order to spell that dog breed just calls attention to those letters. *rolls eyes*

Oh, the dog park is great! My babies love it there! It's by Griffin Memorial Hospital. Check it out: http://normandogpark.tripod.com/id2.html

Check back on that site in August. Right before they close down the public pool they let the dogs come swim! They give out silly awards like "Most Chicken" or "Funniest Swimmer".

I thought it was "shih tzu". I may be wrong though. *shrug*

Ah, ok North of Robinson. I don't get out that way much, no wonder I've never seen it.

Brandon, since you are in the OKC area, which is probably where this here shindig will likely be held, I think you are stuck with organizing it. :P
