My thoughts, eats, triumphs and struggles will be posted here as I journey into new veg*an territory. :sunny:

I want to lose weight. I want to be healthy. I want to quit obsessing over my food. I just want to eat what's good for me and enjoy it, with all the good benefits. I want to be vegan. But it's day one and I'll get where I need to be when I get there. :) :D

Day 1 - SATURDAY
BR: a 1/2 banana and a Tbl of natural PB
SN: OJ smoothie with 1/2 banana, coconut oil and vitamin powder
DN: veggie pizza w/o cheese and a side caesar salad. (forgot the salad dressing prolly had egg in it. Oh well.)

I can't believe how awesome veggie pizza is without cheese! I stuffed myself yesterday. Today I really need to shop, but I'm sick and don't feel like it.

On hand I have canned fruit w/o sugar, FF refried beans, onions and green pepper, and stuff for salad. I need rice milk for my smoothies. I need to stay away from soy, but I know I will use it at times. I'm still feeling really excited about my decision. I started reading "The China Study" 2 days ago. My uncle reversed his prostate cancer going vegan. He never had radiation or chemo. He owes it all to diet. It's been 3 years since his diagnosis. He was a serious steak and chicken man.

I need to get B12....

SUNDAY
BR: Smoothie (bluberries, banana, OJ, protein powder, vitamin powder)
SN: 4 saltines w/ NPB
LN: forgot to eat.
SN: 2 corn tortillas w/ salsa, 4 saltines w/ NPB
DN: spaghetti w/ peppers, onions, tomato, corn (was OK)
SN: 8 saltines w/ NPB + honey

I need something sweet.......

..

What prompted your uncle to try veganism as a way to reverse cancer? That's pretty cool that he's all better now. Is he supporting you in your journey here?

When he was diagnosed he did not want to face chemo and radiation. So he started researching holistic and diet. He is very excited that I'm choosing this way of life. :D

I don't know what to do about my gut. (sigh) The bloating was better for a day, but was horrid today. I couldn't even stand up straight. It's like being preggo. (sigh). This is what the bloat is like compared to my regular tummy:

I'm only a week into this journey myself, but had a pretty bloaty day. I attribute it to the fact I ate my breakfast (a bowl of fresh fruit) to close to the veggie sushi w/ brown rice I had for lunch. Tomorrow I'm gonna try to keep them separate and I'll let you know what happens!!!

Always, there's this hebalist named Dr. Schulze who sells this herbal formula called "Intestinal Formula #1" that works wonders. Google him and check out his website. I used it in the past, even when I was eating all sorts of crap, and it works wonders on gas and such...

Good luck!!!

Had a nice Memorial Day weekend. No bloat at all until I ate some spinach dip. Salt & fat are not my friends. I ate at McDonald's several times over the weekend. I ordered Big Macs w/o meat and cheese, add tomato and extra pickles. Fabulous.... next I will work on no sauce. They didn't put much sauce on them....but still......

Went to a BBQ last night and had tomato and avocodo on my bread while they all ate BBQ. It's nice that I don't miss it.

Tuesday
PB / banana protein smoothie
3 pc candy (now my tum hurts) :wall:
Italian bread w/ margarine and spaghetti sauce (YUM!)
Dinner? Prolly a salad or greens and a piece of cake or Tiramisu.

Today is a lovely day. :sunny: I had my smoothie for breakfast and left over angel hair w/ artichoke hearts, tomato, capers, & black olives. It was very light and almost tasted lemony. I don't think there was even any oil in it.

I've stayed out of the candy as it is making my stomach upset when I eat it.
:wayne:

I wish I had some carrots and grapes with me. I do have some canned pears in pear juice.

Friday it will be 3 weeks. :hamster:

Today is a lovely day!!!!!!!!! :sunny:

Today I ate mostly raw and it was unintentional. I just ate what I was hungry for.

BR: rice milk smoothie w/ protein powder & blueberries
SN: grapes
LN: salad greens w/ mand. oranges, dried cranberries, sliced almonds ginger/sesame dressing

It was heavenly. I feel so good, but I'm STUFFED. Oh there was a little fresh cranberry sorbet and a small muffin I ate as well. I don't know what to eat for dinner. I have 1/2 an avocado and a roma tomato at home. Maybe I'll pick up a squash. I'd love to make homemade pesto, but don't know where to get pine nuts. I never had pesto before, but it looks good w/ the squash!

I wonder if the salad w/ fruit made me bloaty, or if it was the small muffin... It was such a great salad. I liked the fruit in it.

Juicy goodness today!:sunny:

I didn't want any vitamin or protein powder in my smoothie this morning. I just wanted juiciness. Spinach, fresh pineapple, apricot, pear, blueberries and a little apple juice. :hamster:

Lunch was whole wheat spaghetti w/ yellow squash ribbons w/ natural pasta sauce.

Just a few nuts for afternoon snack. I was so hungry this morning, but not so much now.

Those taco last night sure were good.

Tonights dinner was FAB! Roasted green beans and red pepper & squash ribbons tossed into hot whole wheat pasta w/ olive oil, lemon juice, garlic, sea salt & cracked pepper. I love when something just pops in my head. Def a winner for the whole family! Next time I need to buy 3 times the green beans theere were not enough.

I really need to drop 7 lbs 157 to 150. 149 would be the bomb. I'm starting the rice diet again tomorrow. I had a hard time with it the first time as I was not a veg*an then. Should be a cinch this time as it's vegetarian plan!
Wheeeeeeeee:hamster:

I decided to stop trying to diet. Period. I'm re-reading Intuitive Eating and put my scale up. I will listen to my body and eat what makes it feel best (which so far as been vegetarian). I started exercising at Curves. :hamster:

Today was homemade pizza (store bought crust) w/ yellow bell pepper, sun-dried tomato and black olive. Whole wheat pancakes for brekkie and some juice and tea. Tomorrow fruit shopping! :sunny:
