View Full Version : Anyone seen/used MimicCreme?

MimicCreme is a non-soy vegan analog for dairy cream. It was mentioned on the Slashfood blog this morning, with a link to the product website (http://www.mimiccreme.com/index.html). I've never seen this product before. It is almond milk/cashew cream based, with stabilizers and such added so you get a general-purpose cream-like product. Anyone seen this?

Point of (perhaps minor) interest: the word 'vegan' has been popping up more and more on Slashfood ...

I've seen it, but I haven't used it yet. I think I'm going to try some out this summer to make some ice cream. Since it's only just started warming up, haven't really had a hankering for ice cream yet!

They don't sell it around here, Nor do I really have a need for 'creame' but I have seen websites that sell it.

They sell it in the HFS here but I haven't tried it. So I guess that wasn't a helpful post. :p

Does it whip? If it does, I will be SO EXCITED

Can you say "chocolate mousse"? :boobies:

I guess I could use soyatoo, though

It doesn't whip.

They're working on a whippable version though.

Does it whip?

Apparently not. :( The Slashfood post put a lot of emphasis on this, probably to make up for the 'don't mention it and maybe no one will notice' approach the manufacturer website takes :)

We get whippable soyatoo where live.

It's tolerable, but I wouldn't want to make a vegan buttercream torte with it... would be nice to try other vegan creams. Cashew-almond-based sounds good!
Edit: Oh I probably misunderstood the reference to which product does not whip.
Can't delete though cause I'm quickly moving up to a 4-digit post count

Soyatoo kinda tastes like old beans.

i like that there is a sugar free version that isn't splenda based. there isn't really enough stuff around thats not really really sugary, or laced with splenda.

I tried to make a vanilla "ice cream" with it in my ice cream maker. It came out looking really really good, texture wise, but I wasn't that happy with the taste.

I agree as for the spray cream (can), the topping cream (tetrapak) seemed better to me. I think the ingredients are identical though  I always found that the dairy version of spray cream tasted odd too, compared to normal whipped cream, maybe because of the aerosol (?). I rarely bought any spray cream for that reason. But of course  I had to buy soyatoo ready-to-use immediately when I found it, as in “hey look they even have vegan spray cream, I absolutely have to buy it right now”…
And it’s the only vegan whipped cream alternative I’ve ever seen here… no laughing, please - we’re like 10 years behind regarding vegan convenience foods like that, though lately, things have started to change a bit.

I really like the soyatoo coffee creamer (http://www.smilefood.de/index.html?d_274_Soyatoo_Soja_Coffee_Creamer476.ht m), it makes a real nice foam for chai and latte.
