I was at work on my lunch break (I usually lay on the floor and take a nap). I thought someone fat was walking by and shaking the floor and then I thought someone was trying to tip something out of the vending machine. :p

I woke up thinking one of the dogs was leaning against the foot of the bed scratching themselves. By the time my sleepy brain realized Jake (the usual culprit) was not in the bedroom, it had stopped.

I didn't feel anything. I guess the epicenter was too far south, or I was just asleep. :P

I didn't even know we had one till I woke up this morning. HB saw it on the morning news while he was having his coffee ad told me about it when I got up.
E.T.A.-- Michael--
I felt it!! (St Louis, Mo)
I woke up freaking out.
My mirrors fell off the wall and my bed vibrated it's way about 3-4" across the room.
I work in Westport and there was just an aftershock that rolled through... the whole office building is freaking out.

I work downtown STL and barely felt the aftershock. I thought someone had just stomped down their foot or something. Hopefully, my dogs aren't freaking out at home. Addie would cause more damage than the earthquake itself.

Yep. That is what I experienced, alright.
I have MyFoxStl open, for sure!
I am surprised that you didn't feel that, being downtown. What floor are you on?
I would described the way the aftershock felt as how it feels like when you're on a bridge and a Semi drives over it, or there are high winds and it sways... or like when an elevator stops suddenly. Or, you would understand this one, when you're up in the arch and can feel it moving. :p
Very strange sensation, indeed. I've never experienced an earthquake before. I wonder how many aftershocks we're going to get when it's all said and done. It's kind of... exciting! :whip:
The city bordering my town (in Ohio) felt it, but my town didn't. I don't know how that happened! I was awake at the time, so I'm pretty sure I would have noticed.
My lab partner (a commuter) woke up a little but thought the laundry machine was acting up. Her sister freaked out and told everyone there was an earthquake but no one believed her.
I'm just on the 2nd floor of a small building. There'd probably be more swaying up top. I've only felt two other earthquakes and they were both so minor you couldn't feel the aftershocks.
Welcome to California!
Oh, wait.
Never mind. :p

I mean, when I woke up to the apartment shaking my first thought was that a pipe had burst or something. We're not used to earthquakes in the Midwest, are we? Ha.
Apparently I slept through it.

There was another aftershock in Southern Illinois last night around 12:38 or so. The magnitude was 4.5. Did anyone feel that?

I didn't feel the aftershock but I heard Addie (my dog) barking in the middle of the night. When I got up, I found she had locked herself in the bathroom. She been doing that recently when storms come through ... I guess earthquakes and thunderstorms are treated equally in her doggy mind as run and hide events.

Just like last time, it pulled me out of sleep. The earthquake in 2004 was centered about 15 miles from me, so I could feel myself being yanked, but this one was subtle. I woke up and looked at my clock not thinking anything of it because I didn't feel anything, but when i heard later in the morning what time it had occurred, it was around the minute I was looking at my clock.
