Not sure if this belongs in this section, since it's a store, but..

If there's a Wegmans supermarket near you and you can't get to a health food store, the Wegmans may be helpful if it's anything like the one around here. They've got a whole natural products section that's relatively big, they've got bulk organic items and rows of freezers and several isles dedicated to natural foods and products. By far the best selection I've seen in any mainstream supermarket, and the prices weren't bad. The one I went to is in south Jersey, and I'm not sure if they all have cool sections like that, but just thought I'd mention it.

I live in the city that Wegmans originated in, and yes, they're all like this. For a "regular" supermarket they do carry a lot of veg*n and organic foods. They also sell them for less than natural/health food stores, at least in this area. Even the smallest one I'm aware of, the one I go to, has two isles dedicated to these foods and three freezer cases. It's pretty cool.

They also happen to be very highly ranked as a top employer and in ethics so I do like to give them my money. Oh, and they've banned the sale of tobacco products in their stores!

Like most corporations, there's pros and cons. They do have a good selection of veg*n/organic foods, way better then most grocery chains (at least in this area) They do have a very high reputation for treating their employees well.

They also have refused to change their ethics at all when it comes to battery cages for their Wegman's brands.

Like most things in veg*nism, nothing is easy or obvious.

I used to LOVE shopping at Wegmans when I lived in Virginia. It was almost like having a regular grocery store with a health-food store inside it. And it had one of the best produce departments that I've seen in a regular grocery store. And the prices were great.

Hmm I wasn't aware of that, that is a real shame... Well, I don't buy eggs so at least I'm not contributing to that :|
