Anyone going to this tomorrow (Saturday April 12)? My husband and I will be making the drive from Kansas to go! I thought surely there'd be a post on here about this, so sorry about the late notice, if no one knew.

It should be lots of fun - people from PCRM and PETA are speaking, and also the singer from Rise Against and Colleen from Compassionate Cooks. Watercourse Foods is providing a lot of food, and there are going to be cooking demonstrations and booths for information.

Well, the event turned out to be amazing! I bought two cookbooks (Joy of Vegan Baking and How It All Vegan) and got them signed by their respective authors ... And I got to try some excellent vegan food offered up by generous vendors.

Plus, recycling and composting was highly encouraged, and even though over 1600 people (!!) attended, there were only three bags of garbage. Pretty awesome.

That's wonderful! I totally adore Colleen from Compassionate Cooks. Was she as super awesome in person as she seems? And how is Joy of Vegan Baking? I'm hoping that will be my next cookbook even though I'm terrible at baking :)

She was great - really friendly and sweet. I haven't had a chance to make anything from her cookbook yet, but I've flipped through and all of the recipes seem really straightforward. Some of course are more complex, but they way they are written is really helpful, and she has little tips and tricks in some of them too. And the pictures are gorgeous!
