What a terrble way to start a week. As I was going to work this morning, I saw a small dog on the highway near the edge of the road but still in the the highway. He had been hit, but I could see him still moving! I turned around and crossed the highway to get him to take to the vet. His heart was still beating, but I could tell he was hurt so bad. I could barely get back across the road to my car there was so much traffic. I finally got him in the car and to the vet's office, but by then I could not feel his little heart beating. He did not make it. I am so upset and sad and can not quit crying. Poor little thing. At least he did not get all smooshed in the road. He was such a cute little dog. So sad.

That is just so sad. Makes me so angry that whoever hit him didn't stop, or someone else seeing him lying there. I'm sorry you had to witness that, but you did the right thing. Poor little guy :(

Poor little dog. Thankfully, his life ended near a gentle soul who cared for him, and not from a final blow by some careless driver. Thank you for being such a caring person.
I'm sorry.

I am so sorry. You did the right thing by trying to get him to aid. At least he died off the road, with someone who cared nearby.

Exactly. How can someone hit and just leave? it's so sick.

As hard as it was, you did the right thing!

Poor little guy. :(

oh how horrible! :( You definitely did do the right thing. I wonder if the vet was able to find out who the dog's owners were.

Poor little dog. At least he spent his last moments with a gentle spirit.
