Hi there,

I am a vegan and I don't consume any dairy or egg products, but my hubby is non vegan so I have to buy some non vegan products for him. I went to ASDA today to do our family's weekly shopping and I've noticed an RSPCA approved Freedom food cheese called Spoiltcow. It's a mature cheddar cheese (250g and priced 2.50 ). The package on the cheese says:
Freedom Food is the only UK farm assurance scheme dedicated to improving farm animal welfare.
Our spoilt Cows have access to:
- A wholesome nutritious diet
- Clean, fresh drinking water
- Clean, dry comfortable bedding
- Outside pasture

I've just thought it's worth to mention it if anyone is intersted buying a less cruel cheese. My hubby said it tasted great, I can't comment on the taste, but I think it's better to buy this type of cheese, if you need to, than less animal friendly ones.

Hmmm i'm a bit wary of the RSPCA's "freedom food".

Yeah, I dunno. I've seen what they class as "RSPCA approved" barn-laid eggs. Not pretty conditions. I speak for Australian RSPCA though, not UK, and they are very different organisations I hope. Never been overly impressed by the Aus RSPCA.
