I'm at a loss. I've tried several different websites to find some vegan work shoes and have found nothing! It's either one or some of these things:

1) Prohibitively expensive
2) Hate the style
3) Flat dress outer sole

I bartend and occasionally wait tables at a restaurant so I need a slip proof outer sole. Unfortunately they have to be fairly dressy or I'd just get a pair of all black sneakers. I've found a few pairs that would possibly work, but they look like old man velcro shoes or have pointed toes.

 I hate pointed toes.

No offense to those casual velcro or pointy toe wearing people perusing this thread. I just can't stand them for myself!

So far I've tried: zappos, veganessentials, alternative outfitters, and shoesforcrews (shudder.) Anyone have any other ideas? (Live in midwest, USA)

Payless (http://www.payless.com) shoes often have lots of vegan styles that are 'dressier' and not insanely expensive. I'm not exactly 100% sure of what you want, but their stores are pretty much everywhere and you can go in person and find the right shoes.

This site has several dress shoes. http://www.vegetarian-shoes.co.uk/default.aspx

They are from the UK and sorta pricey, goods selection though.
Possibly eBay? I know they usually have many vegan shoes...not sure about dress shoes..maybe.

Payless does have vegan styles. I'm wearing a pair right now! However, I've owned at least three pairs of shoes from Payless and they've gotten scuffed up in just a few months to where I have to buy a new pair every six months. True, they're only about $15 a pair, but I'd rather have shoes that last a little bit longer. Too bad I can't afford shoes with better quality! :)

There are always a bunch of Earth Vegan shoes on eBay (http://clothing.search.ebay.com/earth-vegan_Clothing-Shoes-Accessories); it might take you a while to find a pair that's dressy enough and the right size, but you should be able to eventually. I've got a pair that I use for professional type stuff. They'd be about 140 US on Zappos; including S&H I paid about 40 US and they were new.

Thanks all for your suggestions. I went to payless and I was surprised to find about 4 or 5 suitable work shoes! I didn't find any regular shoes I liked, but it was also a very small mall location payless. I ended up getting a pair for $30. That's a lot better than ordering the ones I was considering for $120 off the net!

I have 2 pair of semi-dressy black shoes by "Villager" (by Liz Claiborne) that are all man made & cute (& not pointy toed - I don't like that either!). You'll have to read the labels. Some are all man made, some aren't. I found them at Shoe Carnival. I think I paid less than $50 for both.

Those are cute. Too bad they're out of my price range.
