View Full Version : Ohio Check-In Thread

I stole the title from Beachbnny in Virginia, but I don't think she'll mind.
Who here is in Ohio? Who is from Ohio? Who is visiting Ohio? Who would come to meet-ups, and who would help plan them?
I grew up in northeastern Ohio and am in Bolivia at present. I am coming back to Ohio in June, but I do not know if I will be living in Ohio again long-term.
I have gone to VB member gatherings in Ohio, and I would definitely help plan them again if I'm living in Ohio.

I'm in Columbus, but I'll be in Akron from time to time. I can help plan if you want, Skylark. :)

I'd like to plan a Columbus gathering. Those who live in Akron would have to pass near me* anyway on the way to Columbus, so we could carpool.
*Not the "me in Bolivia." The "me when I am living in Ohio."
I live in northwest Ohio during the school year, and northeast Ohio during the summer and on holiday breaks. I don't have a car, but can usually borrow one from my parents when I'm at home. Meetups are probably out for me when I'm at school for that reason. Akron is a feasible drive for me, but I'll probably have to take Skylark up on her carpool offer if I were to attempt a Columbus meetup.

I'm currently in Columbus for school, but live within 30 minutes from C-bus with my parents (in the summers).

Wow, lots of Columbusites. We should get together! We could do Mad Mex or Dragonfly Neo-V!

I am in Cincinnati, but wouldn't mind meeting in C-bus sometime.
Anyone else in or near Cincinnati? I would love to get to know more veggie's here.

Howdy all! I've been in Columbus for 8 years now (since I married). Currently, I'm a dietary vegan only, as I do not feel that I should toss out clothing, shoes, etc. that I cannot afford to replace. It would be great to get together for a lovely meal sometime.

So my boyfriend surprised me last night and took me to Vegiterranean, a vegan restaurant in Akron. It was great (for me, anyway!) He did not like his dish at all :( I got the gnocci, he got the portabella mushroom special. We got the stuffed hot banana peppers as an appetizer, and that was good. We probably won't go again, but it was really fun just to try, and to not even have to think about what I can/can't eat off the menu :)
I have also heard of Tommy's in Coventry, with options for everyone, but have not been there yet.

Vegiterranean is great, but a little over priced for my budget. Last time I was there I got the veggies with polenta. They polenta sucked but the rest of it was good. It would have been better if the polenta was thinner and seasoned. The put these two big chunky triangles on the plate that aren't seasoned at all. Eating it made me feel like someone that had never ate polenta before made it because it sure wasn't done right.

If you're in the Cleveland area you must try http://www.thesoupermarket.com/ . They have a lot of vegetarian and vegan options. Really good food. I stop there every time I'm at the Market.

Thank you! I will definitely check that out--never heard of that one before. Both locations are actually really close to me :)

I spent my entire life in C-bus, and as if I couldn't get enough, ventured oh-so-far to OSU, a whole 15 minutes from my house! However I'm relatively new to the vegan lifestyle (it's only been about 4 months!) so if anyone has tips about veg spots in the area that's be great :hamster:

I'm a big fan of Pattycake, Rad Dog and Whole World. Haven't ever had a chance to go to Benevolence or Dragonfly Neo.

Udipi Café on Dublin Granville Road is awesome, too. I went there about a month ago and was yummified. ;)

I wanna go to Udipi, too! My hubby (the big pink omni in the room) actually asked me to go on a date with him...to Dosa Corner, which is all-veg. This is monumental as he is not only omni, but doesn't care for Indian food at all.
