Where does one go about looking for jobs in both animal and/or environmental conservation?
I have 2 BAs in both English and Anthropology (rather, will have in 2 months) and I know that the preferred degree is probably animal/environmental studies, biology, etc....but I wouldn't mind even a menial and small job in the field of conservation.
Does anyone on VB work in this industry? What is the level of difficulty in obtaining a job in the field? How would one go about looking? I have tried most of the standard sites....even the Triple A site (American Anthropology Association) because even though anthropology is not directly animal related...we do study apes and other species which is my main interest, various Conservation societies, etc...with no luck. :(

With an English degree, you could probably get a job with the HSUS, Peta, PCRM, Farm Sanctuary ... just visit their Web sites and check out their opportunities.

Yeah i'm about to work in this field. I'm just finishing my three year degree in Animal Conservation Science, so please don't steal my jobs! Just kidding ;0
But seriously it is a really competitive area to work in, and you probably would need to get a more relevant qualification if you want to do any hands on conservation as you do need to know about it, but you could apply to certain positions that maybe arn't so hands and gain experience as this is very important as well.
I even think i will end up doing an Internship or something before i can get a job i want, even with my degree, its that hard.
As for where to look, just type conservation jobs into google and there are a few sites advertising.
Btw it's also not that well paid when you just start out, so make sure you don't need lots of money!

Alrighty...sounds pretty much impossible haha. I guess I'll stick to working in publishing, which is what I did my internship in. Sigh.
