STL: Pregnant Dog Found Shot and Caught in Trap

Stray Rescue of STL was called to rescue a dog caught in an animal trap at an abandoned building in North St. Louis. On the scene they saw she was pregnant. After bringing her to the vet, they also realized she had also been shot in the back. She is now safe and recovering from the ordeal. She has to be one of the luckiest of unlucky dogs. I'm glad she's ok and hope to get to meet her and her puppies in the near future :yes:

This is yet another reason I love Stray Rescue of St. Louis :smitten: I'm so glad to be involved with the group.

She is lucky they rescued her. I hope her and her babies recover and find wonderful homes.

I got to see her on Saturday. Her foot seems to be fine now, but the poor thing has obviously been through a lot. Except for her pregnant belly, she's very thin and boney under all that fur. It looked like she was even missing one of her ear flaps. She was so calm and let me come in and pet her, but she flinched every time I placed my hand on her :sick: I feel so sad thinking about her past experiences. Thankfully, the future is looking much brighter ... and her puppies are coming very soon.

Sahara was not doing well at the shelter. She was checked out again and ok'd by the vet, then sent to a foster home. I guess she's suffering more mentally than physically at this point. I think the shelter was stressing the poor soul even more (loud noises, lots of strange people, confined to a single room). The foster home should allow her to relax and recover a little easier.
