We're taking little steps here.. such as trying to only use organic/non animal tested products (deoderant, shampoo, etc).. cut out plastic bags.. just little things for now.

hmmm lets see.... started running PSAs from PETA and In Defense of Animals on my 4 Television channels, having local shelters in to do shows about adoption rather than purchasing from pet stores, had the Michigan Rabbit Sanctuary in to do a show, stopped using any health and or household products test on animals or containg animal products and stopped eating any animal or animal by products....

I use my MySpace blog for activism. (and I have over 12,000 friends on MySpace, so even if a few are influenced--that is great!)

I also have Farm Sanctuary in my top MySpace friends.

I help with veg outreach, bringing vegan cookies to work, etc.

I only buy products not tested on animals.

Of course: not eating animals!

I, too, refrain from eating them.

I really don't actively do much else as I can't foster anymore (cat virus in my house...from fostering)...

...but I always leap into action when I find out someone plans to kill a critter that's annoying them somehow. Like, the opossum under my neighbor's car. They were going to shoot it, but all I had to do was poke it in the butt with a stick and it ran off (THOSE THINGS ARE FAST!!!!!). <--just an example.

I live in the city and there are so many stray cats... I leave my garage open about a foot and at least three live in there, and I leave food out for them. I know one has been coming for food for over two years now, she is terrified of people or I'd have adopted her (which I've done with others)... Thankfully the TNR program is pretty good here, most of the cats I see have a clipped ear.

Oh... and I don't eat them, of course.

I think that's it!

I feed and care for the dogs at my school's rescue program. I got my cat spayed as soon as I had the money. I don't eat animal products or buy them.

I don't do an awful lot, but I don't eat them, I only use products that specifically state they haven't been tested on them, and I sponsor a dog at the Dog's Trust.

Yes, jenna I know how you feel. I feel like what I do is not enough.

Of coarse I'm vegan and I make sure all my cleaning products, shampoos, the little makeup I use is animal product free and not tested on animals.

I give money to Farm Sanctuary, Animal Acres, the local Cat Coalition and the local shelter. I do not do anything hands on like fostering or volunteer work at an animal shelter. I'd want to keep or take all the animals and I could not do it emotionally.

I used to feed a stray but have not seen him in many weeks. I know he was being fed by someone else judging by his weight. I hope he is OK.

Besides the obvious of avoiding/cutting back on animal products/products tested on animals/products detrimental to the environment when possible/practical, I volunteer with STL Stray Rescue and have been helping pull together resources for flooded animal shelters in MO.

I've never been an altruist, so I've never really been interested in donations or volunteer work. To me, the most important thing is to raise consciousness about the issue. In that vein, I recently gave a presentation to my school's environmental club about the livestock industry's impact on the environment and I'll be doing a follow-up next week (I think I'll pack some cookies too).

Each one of you has done marvelous things and by not eating animals, how many will you have saved in your lifetimes! So don't denigrate the "little things" you do as being not much. In general, I feel that people like you whose hearts ache for the animals are enlightened because you have become more aware of your place and impact in the universe and you make a decision each day as to the kind of person that you chose to be, i.e. compassionate, gentle, kind, etc. The rest of the world are on auto-pilot which saves them from the responsibility of thinking, feeling guilt and breaking old vile habits (like throwing some poor animals leg on the barbecue).

Well, more directly, we've mainly adopted them. :) We occasionally adopt from pet stores, but mostly we have gotten animals from shelters, or at least ones in need.

Felix our Amazon parrot was unhappy in a breeder's home and stressed, so we took him in. Pippin the parakeet had been in a home with three poodles that were out to get her, so we adopted her. Monica and Chandler the guinea pigs were living at my uncle's house with too many pets, in seperate aquariums in the basement. Chibi and Sugar Cube were left because the owner didn't want them and left them at the shelter.

I also volunteer frequently at our local humane society. *Shrug*

I always pet and play with the cats and dogs I come across during my runs. I know I leave them happier than they were.

I've stopped eating them for one :-) I cut the rings in the soda can holders so they dont get stuck around animals necks when they get to the landfills. Ive just started to replace my soaps & stuff with cruelty free items. Ive adopted two cats, one from a shelter, another ended up on my doorstep nearly starved to death.

And I think one of the most important things for me, is that Im teaching my son (the next generation) about how animals should be treated and respected, and in my actions Im setting an example for him. Makes me cry sometimes :-)

ive been vegetarian for a while and am taking steps towards veganism. i recycle, compost, have reusable grocery bags. i dont buy anything that has been tested on animals. i dont wear anything made from any animal products. i volunteer at a local shelter. i am a member of the humane society, spca, and kind of peta. i think theyre a little crazy, but i sign petitions for them and things like that. thats all i can think of. im studying animal biology. that isnt helping animals now, but it will in the future.

I just filled out an application for volunteer work at our local Humane Society. We took in a lost puppy last night and had to call for shelter pickup. It really got me thinking I should do more.

I adopted a feral kitten that was outside in the freezing winter, even though I was allergic to cats. I've also adopted 3 dogs over the years, two are still with me.

Going vegan, for starters. I am also active in protesting/campaigns for animal *rights* (not welfare, but rights). I rescued a dog who was wandering the countryside in the wintertime and had been shot in the leg, and a turkey that was destined for slaughter I'm also working on helping the environment by using more earth-friendly products. Ummm...I also persuaded my high school to have an alternative to dissection, and ended their slaughter of live chickens for "foods" class. Lastly, educating others about cruelty to animals and ways they can help.
