I've always wanted to go back to overnight hiking. Esepcially a winter one ( Ok almost too late for that!) Ideally I would like to do this on a regular basis.
This is part of why I went back to lifting weights to help with muscle power for hauling a pack.
I had made plans last week, but my stupid B vitamin metabolism problems decided to flare up so I had to cancel. :flush: plans.
Anyways anyone else into overnight hiking or intending to be into it?.
If you never have done it before, it not so good alone...I remember thinking every noise might be a bear LOL.

I've taken some wonderful backpacking trips in the Emigrant, Caribou, Hoover and Yolla-Bolly Middle Eel wilderness areas in California, mostly in my teens and early 20's. It's amazing to be able to be so far away from other people. Some of the places I've been to we didn't see other people for days. I haven't been on a backpacking trip in over two decades, but I'd like to get out backpacking again.
There are also some high sierra camps in Yosemite that allow you to hike from camp to camp. They provide the sleeping arrangements and dinner (possibly breakfast as well.) But they're very expensive and you have to "win" your spot at them in a lottery. I'd try that if I had the money and luck.
One of my climbing buddies hiked the Pacific Crest Trail (Mexico to Canada) with his wife and 10 year old daughter in 2004. Scrambler (the daughter's trail name) is the youngest person to have ever hiked the entire trail. I think its an amazing feat.
I hope you get back into shape to do more overnight hiking.

That sounds wonderful Asp3.
It's incredibly stupid, I like looking at my basket of hiking stuff that I rarely use. It's inspiring.
