I've always found it hard to find any shoes that are made specifically for active outdoor activities - hiking, trail walking, etc - that are vegan, until I found these:

Merrell Chameleon Wrap Slam

I haven't actually got them yet because I ordered them online, but I've seen them in the flesh and they look pretty rugged and like they could take a beating, which is my number one priority in a shoe!

They might look a bit geeky, but they're vegan so that's my excuse.

I thought this would be worth sharing because I've never found a pair of trail shoes before.

Yeah, I usually hike/backpack in trail shoes too, rather than boots. I've never really seen the advantage with boots, but maybe I'm missing something.

My shoes never last long - either the soles fall off or the inside heals wear out and cut my feet (this happened with the last two pairs). maybe it's my feet's fault. I've got montrail climbing shoes, but I don't think you can get normal montrail shoes over here.

Actually, no, that's the fundamental floor with these merrells - they aren't waterproof, they would be perfect if they were.

Wearing three pairs out is pretty good going, well done!
