Where do you all go when buying shoes for your kids? I've been finding it next to impossible to find good quality, leather-free shoes for kids that look decent and don't cost a fortune.
The only ones that I've found so far are New Balance and a few Sketchers, but they're pretty pricey. I'd rather not spend $50 on shoes that they'll wear out within a matter of months. If I have to, I will, but if anyone could help me out I'd appreciate it.
I know some may suggest payless and places like that, but I really don't like those places because the shoes seem so cheaply made. They just can't be good for their feet.
Any suggestions?

Payless does have some "cheap" shoes, but not all of them are. I've purchased several pairs, and they have not only lasted, they're comfortable.

I've got 2 answers for you:
TARGET
WAL-MART.
I WISH that they carried those cute, cute non-leather kids shoes in my size. Damn these adult sized feet!

EquiPro - I know the feeling - Kid's shoes are so cute. Especially since I love the colour pink :D
Yeah, when I was little, I always had Kmart, Walmart, Payless, etc shoes - they actually wear very well - I was an active little kid. But if you're still agains those places, I suggest converse - they have some nice well wearing non-leather shoes.

What about water-resistant shoes for children, that are made of breathable water-resistant material, rather than non-breathable synthetics that make your feet sweaty, and itchy and painful?

Ah, http://www.vegetarian-shoes.co.uk Many of their shoes appear to come in childrens sizes -- UK sizes 3 - 7.

I've heard that Stride Rite has excellent quality shoes, but I've never been there. I assumed they had only leather, but a friend of mine told me they have canvas and other non leather shoes too. I don't know what their prices are like or even if there are locations outside of Minnesota.

Well, I just found Stride Rite's website. I looked and looked and didn't see a single pair of non-leather shoes. How dissapointing.
