So I am just about out of my non-vegan shampoo and conditioner, and have no leave in treatments or hairspray or anything, so I am wondering what is the best vegan brand out there? Or brands for that matter. I have the option of vitamin cottage or online shopping. Thanks!

Giovanni rocks. We use their leave-in conditioner. We use 365 brand (Whole Foods) for everyday use (it's cheap -- only $1.99 per bottle) and I also use shampoo and conditioner I get at my salon for twice a week use ($22 per bottle eek!). I used to use this stuff called Emerald Forest Botanical, which was awesome, but I don't know where to find it anymore or I'd buy that (I think it was $6 or $7 per bottle).

My hair is stick-straight, long, and super-fine. Can anyone recommend hair products for this? I'm afraid that a leave-in conditioner will just weigh my hair down.

I use AVEDA products and I love them!! All of their products are completely vegan EXCEPT the following, which contain beeswax. If anyone uses a cheaper shampoo and conditioner that I could get locally, I'd love some ideas. The closest Whole Foods store is about an hour away and Trader Joes is about 40 minutes so I really use AVEDA because the salon's right by my house and it's a lot more convenient. Here's the list:

I love aveda! Good stuff! I also hear that paul mitchell is vegan and I sometimes use the conditioner. It's blue and kind of a leave in type but I've used it since I was a kid and just looove it. I rinse it out a bit and that leaves my stick-straight-fine hair pretty lush and bouncy. :)

Aveda!

It's a bit pricey, but the least expensive of their products are no more expensive than the stuff you'll find at whole foods or other health food stores, the whole foods store brand and others like it notwithstanding. Plus the people at the salon should be able to help you pick out something better than the people at food stores.

Bumble&Bumble are vegan? the names a bit misleading because I thought itd be full of bee things!

I use original source
its cheap and i can get it in Tescos, hehe. and smells nice! can only get 2 scents and theres loads on the website, but almond and coconut is goood (at first i thought it smelt like hamster food, still do - but hey i want to smell like a hamster!)

I used lush shampoo bars for AGES but they were a bit crap. half the time my hair never really felt clean

I have vegan shampoo (http://www.etsy.com/view_listing.php?listing_id=9149910) listed in my Etsy store... (If I'm sold out--just favorite me and I promise to relist...)

I personally like Jason. They make organic and have the leaping bunny symbol to certify that it is vegan and not tested on animals. It's also pretty cheap -- about $7 a bottle.

I like to use coconut oil as a pre-wash conditioner. I just put some on my wet hair, leave it in for a few minutes, and then shampoo. Sometimes I'll add just a teensy bit more after the shampoo as a leave-in if it feels like I need it. Simple, natural, and vegan! :hamster:

Ah, you beat me on the coconut oil.

Another homemade type vegan thing is getting a mister bottle and filling it up with water and different essential oils.

I've been using Nature's Gate and Kiss My Face (I switch between them every few days). I've been house sitting and I'm low on conditioner so last night I used some Herbal Essence conditioner that was in the shower. My waist-length hair is SO silky, soft and shiny and not nearly as tangled as it usually is. I'd forgotten how nice it feels with 'regular' shampoo/conditioner. Nature's Gate and Kiss My Face just don't cut it. I HAVE to find vegan products that'll do that.

What is the best for super silky & shiny hair and reasonably priced. I'm okay with spending about $15/bottle max (unless it's a really big bottle).

i'm starting to like paul mitchell quite a bit- i bought diddy samples recently, and they're perhaps not quite the right products from the range for me, but they're decent, and not disapointing in terms of lather/cleaning strength/shine and softness like i've found 'natural' stuff to be (which never seems to lather, and always seems to leave me with limp, lank, and brittle hair). you can get really big bottles of it quite cheaply on special offer quite regularly at salons here.

I use TRESemme. It says not tested on animals and is pretty cheap and can get it anywhere.
Is it vegan, does anyone know? I've been vegetarian for 4 years and just became vegan like few days ago.

I got Kiss My Face Big Body shampoo with my most recent order and I didn't realize it but it smells of lavender. Not that I mind the smell but lavender gives me a headache for some reason :(

I have used my bf's Giovanni that last 2-3 times I've washed my hair and my hair is so desperate and dried out right now (and I only wash my hair every 4-5 days). I'm back on coconut oil. The only other thing that really works is Dove which is not vegan :notvegan:

I love Matrix, KMS California, Ted Gibson, Ojon, Redken, and Kenra. I don't think these are vegan, but they aren't tested on animals.

Jonathan Product (find it @ Sephora) is great as well, and it is certified vegan.

Alba is anothar salon brand, it is vegan. I haven't tried it though.

I'm digging the Aubrey Rosa Mosqueta shampoo and conditioner right now. Both are vegan.

One thing that does bother me about Aubrey is they'll have a vegan shampoo and it's companion conditioner is NOT vegan (Blue Chamomile, JAY, etc).

Anyway, a bit pricey but good stuff.
