All animals should be worth compassion
While I'm glad that Don Raisenan was able to reunite with his lost dog after a hunting trip ("Dog is a 'Christmas miracle'" Dec. 29) and that he obviously loves him very much, I can't help but think of the animals that his dog, Hunter, helps him kill. Those animals, too, have others that they love and care about. How sad would it be for a doe, for example, to watch as her mate was shot? Or for a pheasant to wonder where his mate is?
We shouldn't love some animals more than others. Dogs, horses, deer, cows, humans, chickens, cats -- they are all worthy of our compassion.
