Can anyone recommend a vegan protein powder for muscle gain?
My brother knows of places one can buy in bulk online for cheap, so if you know any that can be bought in huge quantities, that is good, too.

I've never tried it myself, but a lot of veg lifters seem into pea protein isolate.

You can buy in bulk from www.trueprotein.com
They sell Pea Isolate, Soy Isolate and Hemp and you get to pick you own flavorings.
I usually buy them plain so I can flavor myself with soymilks and frozen fruits.

I wish I liked Hemp the best.
I take it at least once a day, but it is so grainy and goes down my throat so thick... blah.
But I do feel that the Manitoba Raw Hemp is the most easily digestible form of Vegan Protein so that's why I take it.

Well, the reason I like it best is because it is the most healthy and nutritious. :D
I don't care for the grit so much either.

I bet hemp protein powder would be tasty in a blueberry smoothie. It might disguise the grit somewhat.

I find the hemp interesting, even if it is grainy......

I use Vega protein powder. It's hemp, pea and brown rice protein. Taste great and it's 25 grams of protein per serving.

Make sure you don't overdo the protein though. It will deplete the calcium from your bones.

me, too. as long as you mix it up real good, it's ok. but you usually have to keep mixing it as you drink. i add it to chocolate soymilk in the morning.

Hemp protein is apparently the best quality vegan protein source, although it is quite expensive and not always easily available.
My local health food store has a sale on soy protein isolate though, is this good?

Stay away from soy protein isolate, it's a by-product. Not a health food. You can get all the protein you need from a good diet.

Amazing. I am guessing that is you in your avatar as well. Well, to both of you guys, congrats, because you look terrific. I am curious -- is there a vegan bodybuilding website or awareness campaign anywhere? That could really clear up a lot of mistaken ideas that people have about not being able to build muscle on plant protein (and the American Heart Association making a similar claim, sadly).
I was worried about trying this diet because I used to have an eating disorder, and I was afraid of being malnourished to the point of having irregular heartbeat again. But, a lot of these fears stem from the way that animal products are sold in this country, and now that I've been reading literature and watching lectures, and now learning that there are vegan bodybuilders, I'm amazed that these views are so persistent. Well, you go guys, and thanks dr joe for suggesting vega. I've been wondering about protein powder, but I seem to be doing okay now. I'll still keep it in mind though because their formula looks amazing.

Seconded. Soy protein isolate is nasty stuff apparently. Do a google search for more info. I've heard a lot of horror stories for how it is produced, and I don't know exactly what to believe, but I have tried it and haven't felt too good afterwards.

If you search "vegan fitness" on google, it's the first site to come up. It's not solely a bodybuilding forum, but there are plenty of vegan body builders there and they are usually very willing to answer questions.

Cool. I'm not a bodybuilder or anything, I just do yoga to maintain my health. But, I went there and saw that there was a yoga forum. Thanks :)

I have read this before, and I agree with his opinions. If body builders desire muscle, they should seek to build it with quality foods, not industrial waste products being sold as health foods. Any isolated protein is lacking in the nutrients of the whole food, and isn't necessarily beneficial outside of its natural state.
