I'm from the states and I'm going to be in Barcelona then London mid month. We are staying in the Covent Garden area. I was on Happy Cow looking up Veg*n places to eat and I am happily surprised to see a lot!!! Also there seem to be a lot of Indian selections which is my favorite! :lick:
If anyone has any suggestions for what are the best places to eat or if you have any info on the area please let me know!
I'm a clothing designer for Vans so we are going 'shopping' for research and design all around London.

Thanks!! Can't wait to visit!

ps- just how COLD is it going to be mid month? I live in Southern California so consider that! :sunny:

Hi! Am sure you will enjoy your stay in London! But please remember to pack lots of warm clothes! Apparently its gonna be a coldest January in decades...meaning minus degrees, eek! And yes, luckily there is lots of veggie restaurants here in London, you shouldn't have a problem. Am not sure aboutr the ones in Covent Garden area, apart from there is a few nice ones in Neils Yard/Street. They are not open til late night, tho. Camden Town area of London is one of teh best for any veggie restaurants, they have lots, ranging from Indian vege buffets to organic cafes to chinese/thai, yummy! Enjoy!

There's a Wagamama's in Covent Garden, they aren't a veg resturant but they're very good at catering for vegetarians and vegans. And the food is amazing :pibo:

Have fun!

London in the middle of January is coooold. You won't need a giant insulated coat or anything, but make sure you bring gloves, scarves and a hat. And an umbrella.

Ditto to the coldness of mid-January. Last year, near the end of January, it even snowed a bit!

Your trip sounds pretty exciting! A multi-country shopping trip, heh.

Veggie Heaven has all sorts of good info on veg/veg-friendly restaurants. The London page even has some plotted on a map. http://www.veggieheaven.com/uk/england/london/ 222 Veggie/Vegan is my personal favorite, but I really enjoyed the buffet we visited during our London meetup as well. Beatroot has been yummy when I've been there, but the desserts sucked.

Barcelona is a great place to be a veg-head too. It's one of my most favorite cities, actually. I'm hoping to drag the man there sometime. :)

Nice! Thanks all! I am counting down the days for my trip!

Shantih, I googled Wagamamas (sorry I wasn't familiar with it) and I like how they have the Vegetarian dishes marked. That's always convenient.

Sherri, thanks we're going to cover a lof of the city so I will make sure to keep a lookout for some good places to eat.

IamJen, thanks for the link! That's going to be very helpful! I hear great things about Barcelona too. We will only be there for 2.5 days for a convention so I dunno how much I will actually get to see the city. You two should definitely go!

I have asked our snowboarding division at work if I could borrow a nice thick coat for the trip. That would be killer if it snowed actually!
I've never seen snow.....:surprised crazy as it sounds! How deprived am I?

There's an all-you-can-eat vegan chinese buffet in soho, around the corner from Tottenham Court Road tube.

There are several exit from that station - you want the one where the big sex shop is on the corner (which is very good - good stock, reasonable prices :naughty:)

.... go down the road with the sex shop on your right ... take the first right which will bring you onto a large courtyard with a small park in the middle. Veer left and the small restaurant is down their on the left hand side.

you'll eat FAR too much there. I always do when I go there.

I saw snow in London the other day, but it didn't settle and only fell for about 10 minutes.
