Making cat food?

I am curious about making cat food. I would love to do that, but I am afraid I wouldn't do it right. I feed my cats really good natural stuff from the health food store. Also, if anyone here makes their own food, my cats are not vegetarian, but I wouldn't want to buy meat from a slaughter house or something, what do you do??? Cat's need more meat than just fish, right? What other things would I need to put in it to make sure they get all they need? What do you think is cheaper/healthier? Thanks!
