View Full Version : Penthouse Magazine - Will You Miss It?

According to an MSNBC article (http://www.msnbc.com/news/940928.asp?), it could be the end of the line for Penthouse Magazine. Not only could the Magazine be going down the tubes, but apparently Bob Guccione may also lose the Penthouse mansion. Looks like Guccione owes millions of dollars to creditors.
Growing up, I personally preferred Penthouse over Playboy. Playboy was the "boring" magazine. Granted I have not read a Penthouse Magazine in several years, but I would assume they are/were still competitive in providing an alterantive to Playboy.
The big question I guess is... will anyone even care if they go under?
To the guys... which one did you prefer growing up... Playboy, Penthouse, Hustler, Club, Swank, or something else?

From a pictures and "hardcore" aspect, Club was the shiznit. I had an older cousin who would snag them for me.
But...nothing, and I mean nothing, could beat the Penthouse Forum letters! I never knew pool boys got that much play... :D
Hustler was a little too skanky...

Hehehe, Penthouse was the one where you weren't lying when you said you read the articles ;)

Heh. I read a few of the Forum stories that had quite the lasting effect on me when I read them back when I was 13-14...life was good when I was able to live a couple of them out. :D

Nope, I will not miss penthouse.
I mean, I have to accept that my daughter will grow up in a world where men look at skanky pictures of naked women, but I certainly don't have to LIKE it.
As she likes to say sometimes, "Boys are gross!"

Hey, I liked only the *tasteful* pictures of nekkid women. :D

Gross Gross Gross. Now I would have thought you only read Penthouse for the columns. :)

Umm, that's the reason I bought Penthouse, not for the pics ;)

I think the key here is "Growing up..." I preferred 'House. Now, I prefer Playboy. There is always something worth reading. Not much fiction lately, and this month's articles are a bit weak: The casual sex survey and the Toby MacGuire interview were not all that interesting. All in all, I say Playboy is the second-best Men's Mag behind Esquire. Details, now (not the old Maxim-esque edition) is a close third.
Certainly won't miss Penthouse 'round here.

I have not read either a Penthouse or a Playboy cover to cover in several years. For some unknown reason, I'm reading mags where women are actually clothed.... go figure.
I actually tend to prefer Details, FHM and Stuff these days. Of course, FHM and Stuff are basically eyecandy/fluff mags with not much in the way of actual journalism or substance.

Growing up, I wish I had read more pornography.

My recollection of Penthouse is that guys would definitely want to read the articles. (Of course, I haven't seen one since I was in college, so that may have changed.)

i gave up magazines a long time ago. i got so sick of the massive amounts of advertising i was paying for. it seems like you get a 10 to 1 ratio of ads to content in most magazines today. i'm sorry, i don't want to pay money for that.
however, i looked through some penthouse when i was pubescent, and occassionally would read it with my partners as i got into my early 20s, but gave it up some years ago because it was ****in' with my self esteem and my sex life. sex has been nothing but grand since we gave up pornography!
that being said, i would like to find some stuff that's more women-ccentric. with maybe some realistic female bodies in it. as my man sir mix-a-lot sagely said: silicone parts are made for toys. :D

You can find it online if you're brave enough to search. The search results can be scary sometimes. Heh.

Ok, I have a confession to make:
I don't like pornography
Ok, so I'm a weird dude, but I'm really not into porn.

Well, then maybe you and Mr. Mix-a-Lot would be interested in Perfect 10 magazine. All the women are 100% natural and have not had any work done. http://www.perfect10.com/ (Warning: for adults only, homepage contains some nudity)

I used to get my ex to buy the mags for me (less wierd looks, and you know those shelves are way too high for a 5'1 midget).
Penthouse was never one of my faves... and that is all I will say.

I feel the same way as Loki. I just don't like it.
