So, my co-worker/friend/guitar buddy has a nephew who is an Army guy who lives in Atlanta. A few days before Christmas he was jogging with his girlfriend. They came across a pit bull approximately 8-9 months old. The dog was visibly emaciated/distressed. He tried to get the dog to come to him but the dog was very frightened and kept backing away.
After about 15-20 minutes, the nephew didn’t know what else to do but he didn’t want to just leave the dog there. In a last ditch attempt to get the dog to come out of the bushes, he laid flat down on the ground, reaching out his arms to the dog. The dog finally started crawling over to the nephew. As he was inches from his arms, the dog collapsed, right in front of him. He was conscious but just laid there, not making a sound or moving. He went totally submissive as if to say, ok, I don’t know if you’re going to hurt me or help me, but do with me as you will. The nephew picked the dog up in his arms and carried him home. I don’t know what happened immediately after that, but the nephew nursed the dog back to health and has decided to keep him!
This dog is incredible. He made the trip from Atlanta to New York by car since the nephew was driving up to spend the Christmas holiday with his family. There were at least 20+ people at my co-worker/friend/guitar buddy’s house for the holiday. The dog is the sweetest, most good natured dog ever! He stayed under the dining room table during the whole dinner, going from person to person. I was amazed when my friend told me this feel-good story and just wanted to share.
