I've just gone onto the website to get the phone number to make a reservation and they've closed down!!

Website says they are relocating to new premises and that details will be shown on the website in due course. Does anybody live in York and know anything about this? Are they relocating within York? And when?

What a bummer ... last time I was in York they were fully booked, and now they are closed! Bah, humbug!

I have never been, although have been outisde and looked at their menu. A vegan friend of mine said the food is fabulous.

At least they are not closing down permanently, but just moving to another premises.

I had no idea they were moving. I've been to Vanilla Black and the food was wonderful (and veganised very easily)! I think it would be strange if they actually relocated to another town, so I assume they'll be staying in York, and, as Jon said, at least they're not closing down! I'll let you know if I find anything out.

I've had an email from Vanilla Black - they are relocating to London because "suitable premises couldn't be found in York" .... which sounds a bit odd to me somehow.

A big shame for veg*ns in the North of England.

NOOOOOOOOOOOOO
they cant move. Admittetly I've only been there twice but at least they are re locating not closing down which is good news for the veggies restuarant .

Rent for property in York city centre, is stupidly stupidly high I've heard which for independatn businesses makes it very difficult. I just hope York doesnt become a clone of every other town in the UK with the same chain stores .

I was in Vanilla Black last Autumn on a Saturay lunch time with a group of us, they turned away loads of people at the door becuase they were full.

Oh well, good luck to them anyway wherever they re-open.
