Does anyone else do yoga? I just started 1-2 weeks ago, i'm trying to do it every day. Usually an hour a day. It involves a lot of strength, i find it more intense then some weight lifting training. A big reason why i started is because of the Spiritual benefits and being more flexible is a nice bonus.

I never did yaga, but i'm highly interested in yoga practice.
I've seen some VBers are mentioning themselves as yoga teacher.

I used to practice about 1.5-2 hours a day and then got out of the habit. I actually just pulled out my mat/blocks and exercise dvd's earlier to remind myself to get back into it.

Jenna, maybe 1.5-2 hours was too much? I hope that included a long meditation, if not you must have some pretty good endurance.

I do yoga a few times a week and I also taught a children's yoga class. I wouldn't really consider myself a yoga teacher since I'm not certified to teach classes and get paid for it. I'd been doing yoga for awhile before I got pregnant and had to stop because of that. I started up doing yoga again a few months ago.

I started taking yoga classes and working with some tapes this past October. Now I try to get in about four hours a week. I've come to depend on it - both for the mental and physical benefits. i love it!

I've done yoga in the past. I think it's great physically and spiritually!

I love yoga. I've been practicing for about 4.5 years now and am doing a yoga teacher training course. Now that my body is used to it, I find my body actually HURTS when i don't do it. I have a knee injury in both knees right now so that makes it challenging, but i've been able to find a practice i can do without affecting my knees.

I love yoga. I like to do it for an hour every day, but when I get busy I tend not to (though I should). I really enjoy meditating as well - it really calms me down. I use a sandalwood mala when I meditate (you count the beads).
Do you all do yoga for the physical benefits only? Or do you believe in prana and the chakras like me?

I have quite a few, actually.
A Power Yoga (http://www.poweryoga.com/) set by Bryan Kest that I got about 5 years ago.
Denise Austin (http://www.amazon.com/Denise-Austin-Workout-Based-Pilates/dp/0784018235/ref=cm_lmf_tit_6) one, which is a mix of pilates and yoga.
Suzanne Deason (http://www.amazon.com/Yoga-Conditioning-Weight-Loss-Deluxe/dp/B00004TKIC) one.
Baron Baptiste's power yoga (http://www.amazon.com/Baron-Baptistes-Power-Yoga-Level/dp/B00009MEIV/ref=pd_sxp_grid_pt_0_0)
Yoga Zone Ultimate Collection (http://www.amazon.com/Yoga-Zone-Ultimate-Collection/dp/B00006SFKH).
Yoga: Just my size (http://www.amazon.com/Yoga-Just-Size-Megan-Garcia/dp/B0006TPDXO)
I also have a dvd on budokon (http://www.budokon.com/) - which mixes meditation, martial arts and yoga.
My favorite of those is the Suzanne Deason one. For something for fast paced, I like the Baron Baptiste one. I haven't done the Bryan Kest tapes in a while so I can't say anything about those. And if you're looking for something that mixes yoga and other things, I really enjoy the Budokon stuff. I'd probably say the Suzanne Deason and the Budokon. Suzanne's is slower paced but you get a good work out because you hold the poses for a while and she has a nice voice to follow.

for me, yoga is the whole package. i see it as a spiritual discipline; the prana/chakra system is a description of the energy body, and i work with that both in asana/pranayama as well as in thai massage (which comes out of the vedic system via buddhism).

I love yoga. I took a few classes at a local Yoga place, and enjoyed it. Next term, I hope to take yoga in between my classes at University because it is much cheaper.

thanks for the suggestion but unfortunately my only computer is in a closet of an office.
I also believe in chakras, but I don't really know what prana is.

Prana is a sort of life energy that you can absorb from things around you. You can absorb it by practicing pranayama, or yogic breathing.

prana is simply "energy."

I love yoga! I am trying to get back into a daily practice - every morning for an hour... Makes me feel so rejuvenated! Also, one thing I noticed is that when I do yoga, I tend to get injured less in the other physical activities I do (martial arts, running, weight lifting). So yey for yoga! Now I just need to make myself get up at 5:30am every morning...

saaaaame here...love it!
I have found that Yoga keeps me toned, strong, focused, centered, balanced, and I feel like it compliments my Vegan lifestyle. It's opened up new spiritual realms for me and taught me to sloooooowwwww down from my hectic life.
Each week I do 1 power yoga class, 2 hatha yoga classes, and a short yoga class at work that focuses on pranayama with light asanas. It's a great mix.
I also like to warm up before class by doing some moderate cardio.
Yoga has really changed my life, as well as being Vegan of course!
