I have not been around in a while, but I find myself coming back to the fold! My husband and I have found ourselves in a strange position. He is not a vegetarian, and I have gone back and forth on the issue at various times, but have always leaned to near-ovolacto status even if I am not actively avoiding meat. We have an almost-nine month old, and as we are introducing more and more table foods, we are finding ourselves completely grossed out by the thought of giving him meat. Not just because the pureed baby food kind are totally nasty, but because it just seems dirty and wrong in general. I am very surprised that my DH also feels this way, because as I said, he is not a vegetarian (although he is willing to consider that for home). But he just feels that it seems awful to give the baby meat.
I am looking for the best ideas about feeding our son, whom we already know loves beans as a protein source. We are about to introduce tofu, especially the silken variety as a yogurt substitute, as we have to abstain from dairy for him right now for medical reasons (linked to asthma, and he has some breathing issues, not sure if it’s asthma or not yet). Any meal or snack ideas, or favorite cookbooks/websites for kids foods would be great! Thanks!
