I'm trying to lose some weight around the thigh area and right below the buttocks. I just can't seem to lose the weight. (I say that as I'm sitting on my butt :whip: ) I work out daily by doing yoga and working on a slope/running type machine. The only part of my leg the machine doesn't seem to work out is my upper leg area, which is the last place I want to tone up! Does anyone know some exercises that work out the thigh/buttocks area? I really don't want to go buy anymore exercise equipment, which is my main problem right now. I know there are some machines that work your thighs out, but I don't want to spend the cash.

I know lunges usually do a good job in trimming up the thigh/butt area.

Yep, Lunges! Other than that, I use the machines at the gym to work my thighs. Also, if you have access to a treadmill... try doing it on the steepest incline possible.. that works but & thighs. :)
Another exercise is to raise one knee up so that it is at a 90 degree angle. Then, while keeping your thigh at a right angle to your body, kick your leg in and out as many times as you can. You can hang on to something for balance but don't use it to lean on. Switch legs once leg 1 is fatigued. Go ahead and repeat as many times as you like!
Hope that makes sense.

For the area right below the rear I do these:
Stand with one leg a good distance in front of the other. Dip down so that your back knee touches the ground (or nearly does). Make sure your back is straight. When you stand back up, lift your back leg off the ground and SQUEEZE your cheeks together. Repeat 10 times and then switch legs. If you want, hold weights in each hand. If not, just put your hands on your hips.
Work it!

Thanks for the help guys. I tried doing some lunges with my husband's 35lb weights, I think I'm going to have to get something lighter :baby:

Okay, so after I looked up what exactly lunges are, I came across a website that has some pictures and good exercises if you want an upper leg/butt work out. My muscles hurt from my butt to my knees, so I think they are working!

squats are supposed to be good, too. i love doing those. also, the abductor and the adductor will work the inner/outer thighs. the concept for the one for the inner thighs is a lot like the thighmaster. but i cheated- i had a little bit of lipo over the summer on my inner/outer thighs and hips because no matter what i did, they wouldnt change. according to my doctor, im not alone in this.

My weight has been up and down since I was about 15 and I gain it all in my butt/thighs/stomach. I wear a size small in shirts, and I was in a size 11 in pants. Right now I am just wearing sweat pants until I lose a little more weight. I don't want to go buy a ton of new clothes before I lose the rest of the weight.
My husband actually ordered me a thighmaster off of ebay last night because he wanted to get an ab roller. I'll probably use the ab roller more than he will. He's just looking to build muscle. Why can't guys get fat too while we are pregnant? It's only fair!

Lol ^ I wish! Though when I was prgenant (I miscarried later), I got a little fluffy and my Husband did pack on a few with me. I thought that was nice of him lol. My weight goes up and down too. I'm so goofy about it I have a strict size in pants that I will not go above. I have my fat set of pants/shorts/skirts and I refuse to buy anything larger in size. Both my best friend and I do this.
So... right now I'm in my fat set- lol. I've been doing my home work-outs a little more religiously and monitoring my food better. It's coming off slowly but surely. Lunges are fabulous but mostly I just try and get more active. I gain weight in the same places you do plus my *cough* chest. Luckily the places I gain weight are the first places I loose it too. Good Luck... to both of us!

you must be built kinda like me. im small up top, but everything below my waist is bigger. whenever i try to eyeball clothes to see if they fit, im not even close. let me know if the thighmaster works. was it cheap? i dont have any kids just yet-- but when i do, im sure i will gain weight, too. when my ex-boyfriend's sister was 8 months pregnant, she weighed what i normally weigh! that made me mad.
