Take two chillpills and call someone who cares in the morning.

Mr. Dr. Power -- I think I stood someone up tonight by accident. I was so caught up in procrastinating my paper on Sartre and Choice Theory that I just realized I was supposed to go to Baltimore tonight. I couldn't have gone, anyways, but I feel bad that I didn't call and cancel. What should I do Mr. Doc?

Don't ask me. I'm you, in case you haven't noticed. Now get back to work on your freaking paper and quit reading VB.

An interesting question. I would say "no" because if you are worried about OD-ing, then I would say take a chill pill and stop worrying so much.

Mr. Dr. Power--this is not about me, it's about my friend. My friend is addicted to VB. She logs on first thing in the morning when she gets to work and often doesn't log off until she leaves for the day. In addition, she sometimes logs on AT HOME or WHILE VISITING HER PARENTS. Isn't 8 hours a day enough?!? She also often makes up non-problems so that she can up her post count and be part of the "clique."

Weekly meetings at VBers Anonymous have not helped since A. She doesn't admit her addiction, and B. Most VBers go by screen names so they're fairly anonymous to begin with.

Short of poking her with an electric cattle prod whenever she logs on, what can I do to help her with her addiction?

Mr. Dr. Power, I have this overwhelming urge to jump into and roll around in a large vat of mango salsa! Do you think this is abnormal?

Short answer is yes with an if, long answer is no with a but...

True story: I was just at the store and I bought some salsa. There was some mango salsa and some peach salsa on sale. I thought to myself "hrmm... fruit salsa. That's the worst idea since nuts 'n gum."

The moral of the story is this: Having a VAT of mango salsa to roll around is weird enough.

Don't knock it 'til you've tried it! I had reservations when I first heard of fruit salsa, but mango rocks! Haven't tried peach yet - I'll have to give that a whirl.

I don't suggest being awake for 8 hours a day, let alone sober. Wait, you don't have to be sober to be VBing, right Michael? Michael knows what I'm talking about......

Anywho, back to me... er... you... er... "your friend"....

I have no problem with VBing at work. It will help you avoid unfortunate side affects of being employed such as "working" or "being a productive member of society." Likewise with your parents' - they raised you. I'm sure they've seen enough of you by this age.

However, at home, you should concentrate on your family, friends, and baking pies for your family and friends (and virtual fake doctors). If you still find time to VB after baking all those pies, take a little time for yourself and do whatever you want to do. Bake yourself a pie, even.

I like to walk in the rain in the summer, bare feet, through the mud. I like the squishy feeling. Is there something wrong with me or is the beginnings of some type of fettish?? :)

Max Power

Arby!!! Oh man, I love that feeling, too... I wouldn't call it a fetish, although it certainly is a fetish... I walk around campus barefoot rain or shine. I walk around my neighborhood... It's a great feeling. Some say we exchange a lot of energy with the Earth through (surprise) our feet. I don't know much about fetishes, but yes, it is a fetish and no, there's nothing wrong with it. Just watch out for slimey stuff.

You know, I totally believe that about exchanging energy with the earth through our feet. The nerves endings are found in your feet and hands. As a matter of fact, one can read the bottoms or your feet much like they can the palm of your hand.

I get the most 'vibes' when I'm barefoot and still.

I love to feel the dewy grass on my feet. Wet sand is nice too.

One of my few good memories from my years at the U. of MD was walking from my car to class (1.1 miles) in a mod-heavy spring shower. It had rained earlier so the ground was already rather clear of debris. It was the first significant distance I walked barefoot in the rain. I got to class soaking wet and blissfully grinning like the cheshire cat :D

Dr. Power, why do the simple things confuse me so darn much, while the complicated things seem perfectly clear?

Well, I'll respect the vagueness and not ask...

I don't know what is making your seemingly-simple situation so confusing. Unfortunately, the way to deal with your problem is found in the details of that problem. I'm sure you understand that. However, here's my take on what is a widely-reported sentiment...

Sartre famously said "We were never so free as under Nazi occupation." The meaning of this was that the opportunity to exert your freedom is found when that freedom is most threatened. Lots of personality traits are like this. Indeed, we find ourselves in the face of adversity and we do so (in part, at least) because we are forced to change perspectives on a matter.

My point: Simple things that get difficult, quite often get dificult because we aren't willing to shift perspective. Difficult things often force a change of perspective, which tends to make things seem simpler. Perhaps you need a new look at the situation?

Perhaps I do need a change of perspective, but that seems like most difficult part!

Yeah I suppose it usually is... Is there someone to discuss the issue with? Someone who's familiar enough with you and perhaps your situation, but can look at it from an outsider-postion?

Why thankyou Doctor, I believe since the person aka myself, that you were speaking to when you said this was not visible at the
time, makes my condition rather difficult to diagnose, but its okay its happens, being invisible I mean (literally). ;)
