YAFA (http://www.yafa.co.uk/index.html) are organising a series of demonstrations against 'The Blue Bicycle' - culminating in a region-wide WEEKEND OF ACTION against this place - the only restaurant left in York that still has Foie Gras on its main menu.

The region-wide weekend of action, taking place from 14th - 16th of December will attract supporters from across the North of England to converge on York to show 'The Blue Bicycle' that Foie Gras is totally unacceptable - the cruelty involved in the production of Foie Gras has been condemned by Cabinet Minister, Ben Bradshaw, and all political parties in York have voted unanimously against Foie Gras.

The weekend of action will show 'The Blue Bicycle' that we mean business - we will not let this issue drop. - in the run-up to the event, YAFA (http://www.yafa.co.uk/index.html) have also organised a number of "surprises" for the restaurant (all legal, of course!) which will catch them off their guard and give them reason to think and consider their support of animal abuse by selling 'torture in a tin'

Our main demo will take place on Saturday 15th December, during their opening hours of 12pm till 2:30pm and again at 6pm till 9:30pm ( their busiest night of the week) .

We need as many people as possible to attend this to send a clear message we wont have it on any menu in York. Foie Gras was placed on the menu here just days the York council vote in a clear public protest in favour of force feeding. York councillor Paul Blanchard hit the headlines in January 2007 saying that he was going to try and get a York ban of foie gras.
The Blue Bicycle owner at the time went to local media and said that they did not serve foie gras but YAFA and this foie gras ban can get lost. HE supported the force feeding and said if places want to sell foie gras they will do regardless of council say so and Animal Rights.

Then when the vote took place in October 2007 , just days before this happend The Blue Bicycle placed foie gras on their own menu fully aware of how it was produced and the opposition to it.
